There are many ways that the mass media deceives the public or sways public opinion one way or the other. This is why they call TV 'programming'. The mind is a computer, and it can easily be 'programmed' to think a certain way, and not in other ways. Much of the news is negative and depressing. This negativity has an effect, especially when it is repeated over and over and over again.


STATE TV FOX TIED TO DDT, VICE VERSA
For several years, people have noted the close relationship between Dictator Donald Trump (DDT) and Fox network as the faux news network has remained a combination of propagandist and feeder of falsities to the man inaugurated over two years ago. DDT has given Fox 44 exclusive interviews, with the number accelerating. In the past six months, DDT has tweeted over 200 Fox items to his 58 million followers. In the New Yorker, journalist and author Jane Mayer has detailed the relationship between DDT and Fox in an 11,000-word essay.

Instead of reflecting the news, Fox radicalizes the people with its fear-mongering. Conservative pundit Bill Kristol, employed by Fox as a contributor until 2012, said, “Before [Trump], it was conservative, but it wasn’t crazy. The mass media 'spins' and massages public opinion, political results, news and more. This fake news is really a minor non issue, but it shows how easy it is to 'massage' what is really going on, in ordinary 'news'. Who would think that this is all made up and fake?

CNN Fake Newscast

Charles Jaco was the CNN reporter famous for covering the 1990 Persian Gulf War. The first part of this video shows the stage set he was on, and he was clowning around with fellow CNN staff. The Saudi Arabian "hotel" in the background were fake palm trees and a blue wall in a studio. This clip was leaked by CNN staff.

The second part of this video was a live CNN satellite feed recorded onto VHS showing the final cut. Charles Jaco was wearing a different jacket, but he had the same act. The acting was terrible as Charles Jaco wore a gas mask, and his fellow correspondent Carl Rochelle wore a helmet. The sirens and missile sound effects are part of the stage set. The camera never pans out or shows the sky.

Yes, Charles Jaco was a reporter for CNN. Google his name and read the results. This is the reason why I don't trust mainstream news. It is all theater and it's completely staged. I only use the news as a guide to get an idea of what is going on, and then I do further research myself.

Would you believe that a fair and balanced TV station could hire presidential candidates (but only from one political party and not any others) and then give them LOTS of free air time? Guess what, it happens. Does that sound fair and balanced?

Every single presidential GOP candidate has to be 'interviewed' or consult with with Roger Ailes, at Fox News Network. He is THE 'king maker'. If he decides you are not good enough, you get no TV air time or support. Roger Ailes is now gone, but the GOP still has the same structure. A hidden, secret behind the scenes king maker decides who the front runner is going to be and then gives them massive amounts of 'free' air time, as happened with Trump.

It used to be that when someone got into a political contest, they quit or resigned from the media channel that they might have been working for, prior to running for office. But not on Fox News.

It seems the 'rules' of what is fair, have changed. These days, Fox News not only keeps their presidential candidates on staff, they ALSO get their own TV shows. They also get free income from PACS, campaign contributions, and are seen as 'stars', etc. Does this sound fair and balanced?

While these few and 'special' (Republican only) candidates are getting massive and free exposure on air, they also fund raise from the millions of 'fair and balanced' viewers of the show. The news also broadcasts where viewers can go to pro Fox News candidate 'meetings', rallies, or protests. Signs and support vehicles such as buses, are supplied by organizations funded by corporations.

No other news organization does this. Does this sound fair and balanced? 

A NEWS SHOW THAT HIRES ONLY EXTREME RIGHT WING REPUBLICAN GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES; CAN THAT BE CALLED FAIR AND BALANCED?

No other news outlet does what Fox News does, via TV, newspapers, magazines or any other media outlet. This is win win win for Rupert Murdoch and his media empire, Fox News and their corporate backers. They spent five money losing years to get a head of steam built up, spending about 91 million per year to get there.

The result of this power grab by a king maker is lose lose lose for democracy, human rights, worker rights, justice and freedom. As far as being fair and balanced, to truly put their money where their mouth is, they would have to hire and support Democratic presidential candidates and then back them with all of the support they give Republican candidates, and that is not going to happen.

Could you imagine an ordinary citizen with no corporate money backing them, being 'hired' and getting his own show on CNN, CBS, ABC, who help him or her do fund raising on his TV show, for his or her campaign and collecting PAC money, plus asking for political campaign contributions on the air, all at the same time? What would Fox News have to say about what they are doing if any other news network did that? Of course, they would be lambasted and attacked viciously, as being Fascists or worse. 

Hmmm, maybe what is good for Fox News presidential candidates might be good for other political parties too. Maybe other political parties should start doing the same thing? Another issue with all of this 'tilting' of the news and spinning stories is that the equal time rule was gotten rid of, again by the Republicans.

When the Sinclair Broadcast Group retreated from pre-election plans to force its 62 television stations to preempt prime-time programming in favor of airing the blatantly anti-John Kerry documentary Stolen Honor: Wounds that Never Heal, the reversal wasn’t triggered by a concern for fairness: Sinclairback-pedaled because its stock was tanking. The staunchly conservative broadcaster’s plan had provoked calls for sponsor boycotts, and Wall Street saw a company that was putting politics ahead of profits. Sinclair’s stock declined by nearly 17 percent before the company announced it would air a somewhat more balanced news program in place of the documentary (Baltimore Sun, 10/24/04).

But if fairness mattered little to Sinclair, the news that a corporation that controlled more TV licenses than any other could put the publicly owned airwaves to partisan use sparked discussion of fairness across the board, from media democracy activists to television industry executives.

Variety (10/25/04) underlined industry concerns in a report suggesting thatSinclair’s partisanship was making other broadcasters nervous by fueling “anti-consolidation forces” and efforts to bring back the FCC’s defunct Fairness Doctrine:

Sinclair could even put the Fairness Doctrine back in play, a rule established in 1949 to require that the networks—all three of them—air all sides of issues. The doctrine was abandoned in the 1980s with the proliferation of cable, leaving citizens with little recourse over broadcasters that misuse the public airwaves, except to oppose the renewal of licenses.

The Sinclair controversy brought discussion of the Fairness Doctrine back to news columns (Baltimore Sun, 10/24/04; L.A. Times, 10/24/04) and opinion pages (Portland Press Herald, 10/24/04; Fort Worth Star-Telegram, 10/22/04) across the country. Legal Times (11/15/04) weighed in with an in-depth essay headlined: “A Question of Fair Air Play: Can Current Remedies for Media Bias Handle Threats Like Sinclair’s Aborted Anti-Kerry Program?”

Sinclair’s history of one-sided editorializing and right-wing water-carrying, which long preceded its Stolen Honor ploy (Extra!, 11-12/04), puts it in the company of political talk radio, where right-wing opinion is the rule, locally and nationally. Together, they are part of a growing trend that sees movement conservatives and Republican partisans using the publicly owned airwaves as a political megaphone—one that goes largely unanswered by any regular opposing perspective. It’s an imbalance that begs for a remedy.

A short history of fairness

The necessity for the Fairness Doctrine, according to proponents, arises from the fact that there are many fewer broadcast licenses than people who would like to have them. Unlike publishing, where the tools of the trade are in more or less endless supply, broadcasting licenses are limited by the finite number of available frequencies. Thus, as trustees of a scarce public resource, licensees accept certain public interest obligations in exchange for the exclusive use of limited public airwaves. One such obligation was the Fairness Doctrine, which was meant to ensure that a variety of views, beyond those of the licensees and those they favored, were heard on the airwaves. (Since cable’s infrastructure is privately owned and cable channels can, in theory, be endlessly multiplied, the FCC does not put public interest requirements on that medium.)

The Fairness Doctrine had two basic elements: It required broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public interest, and to air contrasting views regarding those matters. Stations were given wide latitude as to how to provide contrasting views: It could be done through news segments, public affairs shows or editorials.

Formally adopted as an FCC rule in 1949 and repealed in 1987 by Ronald Reagan’s pro-broadcaster FCC, the doctrine can be traced back to the early days of broadcast regulation.

Early on, legislators wrestled over competing visions of the future of radio: Should it be commercial or non-commercial? There was even a proposal by the U.S. Navy to control the new technology. The debate included early arguments about how to address the public interest, as well as fears about the awesome power conferred on a handful of licensees.

What happened after Reagan put in place trickle down economics? 

How successful was it? 



After Reagan axed the equal time rule, it means that no mass media outlet has to give equal time to anyone and they can air whatever they want, for as long as they want, no matter how extreme or outrageous the viewpoint.

The mass media airs ONLY corporate friendly news, but that is no surprise, given that they are corporate owned. Republicans are also changing laws, making it more difficult to vote and to air any opinions other than the 'acceptable' ones, which are also very extreme, on purpose. Even PBS has been infected by this corporate' virus, airing pro nuclear propaganda movies with clearly biased producers/narrators. 

This same propagandizing of news and other TV or radio shows happens in other countries as well. Large monopolies such as the nuclear, oil and coal industry are 'protected' and given positive news, while the competition such as renewable energies is put down, lambasted and attacked. Only neutral or positive news that supports the 1% and their global monopolies is aired.

The media creates the frenzy, the politicians do what the people are all whipped up over, based on what the media covers, which is pushed by corporations and the 1%, behind the scenes, usually for reasons such as control, and/or profit and/or more absolute power, or hiding what is really going on, because it is distracting from what the corporations want. Via mairs March 24; Phil Donohue was fired from MSNBC in 2003 for being against the Iraq war, after 29 years of success on TV. Cenk Uygur while working at MSNBC was told to not talk about Fukushima. 

Several years ago when the Iraq war was going strong, TIME magazine put out a hard-hitting article about it, with a cover shot that went along with the article. That issue was distributed world-wide, except in the US. We got a cover picture about some entertainer, with an article to go with it.



CORPORATIONS INFLUENCE MASS MEDIA VIA ADVERTISING BUDGETS, AND DIRECT OWNERSHIP


Corporations own and control the media, pour an avalanche of money into elections to get the most corporate friendly person into office, and then once the politicians are in there, they lobby them via an army of lobbyists, who bring along full written laws that are ready to pass. Most politicians just go along and vote plus sign corporate friendly bills, without ever even reading them. 

There are many more areas of mass media deception combined with corporate control that can be explored via the links below, but don't be surprised if at first this all seems too hard to believe and way too far out there, because that is how a 'programmed' brain is trained to think.

MASS MEDIA COMBINES WITH NORMALCY BIAS, SACRED COWS AND COGNITIVE DISSONANCE


Through school, family, religion and politics, as well as peer pressure, we are 'programmed' to be like the rest of the herd, and go along with what is 'normal'. Everyone wants to be 'normal', right? Well, being normal is the worst possible thing in a ship that is headed for an iceberg, or in a world that is committing suicide. 

After all, everything 'seems' to still be normal. And what isn't normal is probably just a hoax, a conspiracy theory or a huckster trying to sell you something dangerous or toxic, right? Again this is all part of the programming, just like in the movie, "The Matrix". 

In the Matrix movie, only a few people were able to 'wake up', and fight the 1% that made up the Matrix and kept everyone under control, via mass media hypnotic 'programming'. Are you going to be one of the few that wakes up and realizes what is going on? 

Which reality pill will you swallow; the red pill or the blue pill? If you decide to get rid of the TV pro corporate programming, what are you going to do with all of that time, after you cancel your subscription to the providers that host all of these hundreds of pro corporate friendly propaganda? Maybe now you have true freedom to choose what you watch.

Rather than having someone pick and choose what you can watch and when you can watch it, why not  turn off the propaganda filled and censored mass media and make your own choices, on your own time?


Why not cruise the Internet, and pick what you want to find out more about? Why not watch some different Vimeo or Youtube videos on a variety of different topics? Do a search on Youtube around different subjects and dive into it, don't just stop on page one, where more of the propaganda tends to show up... go to deeper pages and see what is deeper in the rabbit hole. 

How about watching an instant online movie that is available at YOUR time? How about reading an electronic book of your choice in an online library? Or, visit a local library and read some interesting books on different subjects you know nothing about, such as foreign countries, spirituality, or different religions?

How about listening to different speakers than the ones that are found as the ordinary and boring fare on mass media?  

Learn how to be eternally curious and become more aware of the deeper issues rather than just being fed surface shallow 30 second sound bites with no meaning or substance. 

Learn something new. Read some books that are not 'normal' or ordinary, outside of your usual fare. Expand your horizons, awareness and consciousness. 

Explore the wide world and differing opinions, because the US mass media only presents one tiny slice of reality. Watch some foreign TV news shows such as RT news, or others. 

Only one dimension out of hundreds are shown on US mass media TV. There are many more ways of looking at the world and what is going on in it. Mass media as George Carlin says, is a freak show, and the freaks are in control. If you like freak shows, keep watching the virtual reality and believing it, but be aware that the freaks are 'managing' what you watch and believe as a result.

Are you brave enough to unplug from the Matrix and dive into a completely different world? Maybe you will even be brave enough to go on an inner adventure, because there are inner dimensions and realities that most people never ever experience. But those inner worlds are there, ready and waiting. Meditation is one way to access those worlds, quieting the mind is another way. Reading books on many different subjects is another way of exploring yourself, inside. Who are you?
