Earthship Biotecture Community; Cob Homes, Yurts, Adobe And Straw Bale Construction Makes Up Green Sustainable Housing For Future; Why Are We Cutting Down Trees, Which Are The Lungs Of The Planet?

Why is it that NEW homes are built free of any debt and clear of any loans in many other countries?

With no debt at all citizens don't need to have both man and wife work full time at two or three jobs just to make it.

Why is it that in the US, huge mortgages that cost three times the original price of the home are 'normal' and ordinary?

Why is it that in many other '3rd world' countries, citizens homes are built of local, free, recyclable materials that generate little or no waste at the end of the home's life. By comparison, in the US, homes are made of expensive non recyclable materials and huge amounts of toxic waste are taken to the dump when a house has reached the end of it's life?

Why is it that in many of these same third world countries, homes have very small carbon footprints as far as building materials, but in the US, the carbon footprint for homes building materials and energy use is HUGE, compared side by side?

Maybe America could learn something from the way people build GREEN and SUSTAINABLE houses in other countries, or even in some parts of the US?

Why does a 'normal' house have huge utility bills each month, but some of the types of homes described below have no utility bills at all, and cost little or nothing to build or maintain?

Why are free or low cost GREEN homes illegal in the US?

Why do 'codes' or ordinances or laws prohibit the following types of green sustainable homes, even for homeless people, who are also illegal criminals, just because they don't own a home and have an address, often through no fault of their own?

EARTHSHIPS WORK IN HARMONY WITH THE ENVIRONMENT, NO CONNECTIONS TO UTILITIES REQUIRED AND USE ONLY $100 WORTH OF PROPANE GAS EACH YEAR; WHY ARE THEY ILLEGAL TO BUILD IN MOST PARTS OF THE US?

These paradigm shifting homes are made to work WITH the environment, and use a maximum of $100 worth of utilities each year, or less.

There are no sewer lines, water lines, or power lines going to these homes, because all of that is self supplied. If methane were generated from blackwater, there would be little or no need for the propane gas to supply cooking heat or hot water. A solar hot water heater can reduce or eliminate the need for gas needed to heat the water supply for an Earthship.

If a bio gas generator were added to the Earthship, it could be completely self sufficient, generating it's own fertilizer for garden/farm, and generating cooking gas plus gas for heating water.

EARTHSHIPS ARE THE MOST ADVANCED AND ECOLOGICALLY FRIENDLY HOMES ON THE PLANET; BUT THEY ARE ILLEGAL IN MOST AREAS

Strangely enough, even though these are the most ADVANCED and ecologically friendly homes on the planet, they are ILLEGAL to build anywhere but in the Taos, New Mexico region, at least so far. Taos went so far as to create a separate building code that applied to this new and creative form of housing, which is what is needed to make it legal in any other area.

Why is there so much resistance to green homes and new separate green home building codes that would allow homes made of straw, mud, adobe, cob, or recycled tires?

Could it be that huge monopolistic corporations control the flow of energy and building materials? Is it possible that huge monopolistic corporations do not want this type of house, because there are HUGE profits to be made by controlling the 1 percent owned resources and the utility companies that supply homes, along with all of the materials used to build and maintain those homes?

HUGE MONOPOLISTIC CORPORATIONS AND GOOD OLD BOYS CLUB CONTROLS MASS MEDIA, WHAT PEOPLE BUY, AND HOW THINGS ARE DONE, SUCH AS HOUSING STYLES AND TYPES

Huge corporations influence and control local, state and national governments, along with laws that govern people, control profits and keep populations vulnerable to being exploited and used.  For more information about how and why this works in most countries, see;

How Corporations Control Governments, Media, Politicians; Confessions Of An Economic Hit Man; via A Green Road
Of course, most people want to appear to be 'normal' just like everyone else, but when 'normal' means being brainwashed with pro corporate propaganda that urges everyone to buy more toxic poisonous stuff, and destroy the world due to the consequences from that, is it worth it to appear to be 'normal'?

HUGE TOP DOWN 1% CONTROLLED CORPORATIONS DON'T WANT PEOPLE LIVING IN SELF SUFFICIENT HOUSING WITH NO CONNECTIONS TO UTILITIES, BUILT WITH RECYCLED OR ZERO CARBON MATERIALS SUCH AS THATCH FOR EXAMPLE

Roofs on buildings can be constructed using thatch or straw like materials, would make a roof net positive in terms of capturing and storing carbon. Thatch roofs or walls and floors can be fully recycled and composted into soil that will grow food. Compare that to a huge negative carbon footprint for things that are 'legal' to build with such as toxic and poisonous roof shingles made from carbon fuel or plastic products. (also toxic and poisonous)

At the end of life the thatch waste can be composted or used as mulch, offering an opportunity for increasing carbon storage in soils or burnt to generate energy and potentially displace fossil fuels. As plant-based materials, straw, reed and heather have a high carbon content locked (or sequestered) in their structure. Some argue that thatch has a great potential for the temporary storage of carbon and benefit efforts to mitigate climate change.

Thatched roofs have been used on homes for centuries for many good reasons. They are very durable, add a unique character to the home, and are lovely to look at. Any home will attain a subtle old home style when thatch is added.

The look of a new roof on a home or commercial building is vital to the architectural integrity of the home or office. When a thatched roof is added to a building, it adds an old world charm to the structure. In recent years, thatched roofs are increasing in popularity. And, because thatch is one of the roofing materials that is sustainable, it is rapidly becoming a go-to material for environmentally conscious building owners. It is a great way to take care of Mother Nature while beautifying your home.

Thatch Home Pros

Thatched roofs provide durable roofing for at least 15 to 20 years and are easy to maintain when they are installed properly.

Thatch acts as a natural insulator for your home and reduces the need to add other materials to provide insulation. Properly insulated homes remain cooler during the warm weather of summer and keep homes cozy in the winter.

HUGE CORPORATIONS DON'T WANT TO LOSE CONTROL AND NEED HUGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE TO KEEP ON BUYING AND CONSUMING TOXIC, POISONOUS PRODUCTS WITH A HUGE CARBON FOOTPRINT, INCLUDING THE PERMANENT WAR MATRIX

Huge corporations need to make money off of toxic poison containing and high cost food, energy, water and all other items necessary for basic human survival. Taking this out of the control of corporations is hitting them where it hurts the most, their bottom line. Corporations will do just about anything to make a toxic profit and hang onto customers buying poison products,  by forcing them to buy from them, and not allowing them to get out of the 'Matrix' like system. Here is just a brief overview of one matrix and how it works to control populations.

It is common these days for many people to vote in their oppressors and abusers, who then blame the victims for their actions. Our modern society is upside down and backwards, because it believes that raping and pillaging the environment, other people, other countries is perfectly legal, sane and justified by Ayn Rand, free market philosophy or Manifest Destiny.

Toxic, poisonous products and services are seen as good, while those that are natural, healthy and promote health are labeled quakery, dangerous or illegal.

YURT HOMES ARE GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE, BUT ARE ILLEGAL TO LIVE IN PERMANENTLY IN MOST AREAS/TOWNS

A yurt is a portable, bent dwelling structure traditionally used by nomads in thesteppes of Central Asia as their home. The structure comprises a crown or compression wheel, usually steam bent, supported by roof ribs which are bent down at the end where they meet the lattice wall (again, steam bent). The top of the wall is prevented from spreading by means of a tension band which opposes the force of the roof ribs. The structure is usually covered by layers of fabric and sheep's wool felt for insulation and weatherproofing.

BAMBOO HOMES, FURNITURE, FLOORS, WALLS, DOORS, ETC.

Bamboo is a fast growing carbon soaking up plant which is stronger than steel, but it is illegal to use as a building material in most areas/towns. Furniture can also be built using bamboo, but instead of that, trees are used. Why?

Bamboo Living Homes are the first and only code certified permit-able bamboo structures in the world. Since 1995, we have proudly designed and permitted more than 350 bamboo homes in the Hawaiian Islands and other beautiful locations in the world. Our unique artisan pre-fabricated home packages are exquisite—and our international code certified engineering is designed to withstand catastrophic conditions.

The quality of our homes starts from the ground up. All of our timber-grade bamboo and supporting materials are sourced and treated to the highest standard to ensure clean indoor air quality. Our homes come with a warranty guarding against termite infestation. We build beautifully designed homes that are long-lasting, low maintenance, and provide peace of mind

Bamboo flooring materials, wall materials, and doorways or screens are also popular in some areas. Why use trees, when bamboo is so much better in terms of fast growth, soaking up carbon and being green/sustainable?

COB HOMES ARE GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE, BUT ARE ILLEGAL IN MOST AREAS/TOWNS

Wikipedia; "Cob is an ancient building material, that may have been used for building since prehistoric times. Some of the oldest man-made structures in Afghanistan are composed of rammed earth and cob.[2] Cobwork (tabya) was used in the Maghreb and al-Andalus in the 11th and 12th centuries and was described in detail by Ibn Khaldun in the 14th century.[3]

Cob structures can be found in a variety of climates across the globe. European examples include:

STRAW BALE HOMES ARE GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE BUT ARE ILLEGAL IN MOST AREAS/TOWNS

Most areas will not allow a 'pure' straw bale building with no concrete foundation (which generates a huge carbon footprint) and a tree/wood based framework, just like a 'normal' house. Essentially, in most areas, if you want a straw bale home, you are forced to build a 'normal' house, and then add in the straw bales, which defeats the whole purpose of a straw bale home and the green/sustainable carbon sequestering reasons for it.

Straw-bale construction is a building method that uses bales of straw (commonly wheat, rice, rye and oats straw) as structural elements, building insulation, or both. This construction method is commonly used in natural building or "brown" construction projects. Research has shown that straw-bale construction is a sustainable method for building, from the standpoint of both materials and energy needed for heating and cooling.[2]

ADOBE HOMES ARE GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE, BUT ARE ILLEGAL IN MOST AREAS/TOWNS

Adobe bricks near a construction site in Milyanfan, Kyrgyzstan
Bricks made from a clay, sand and straw mixture have been used for thousands of years to build homes all over the world, but in our 'modern' society, this form of building has been deemed 'illegal' and can no longer be allowed.

No one can be allowed to just build their own home using local materials gathered on site, without paying huge corporations to make those same materials thousands of miles away, and then shipping them in at great expense and with a huge carbon footprint.

And of course, huge amounts of concrete and steel and wood and toxic chemicals must also be required, despite adobe homes without all of these things having survived thousands of years of earthquakes, storms, and more..

Wikipedia; Bricks are made in an open frame, 25 by 36 cm (10 by 14 in) being a reasonable size, but any convenient size is acceptable. The mixture is molded into a frame, and then the frame is removed after initial setting. After drying a few hours, the bricks are turned on edge to finish drying. Slow drying in shade reduces cracking.

The same mixture used to make bricks, but without straw, is used for mortar and often for plaster on interior and exterior walls. Some ancient cultures used lime-based cement for the plaster to protect against rain damage.

The largest structure ever made from adobe (bricks) was the Bam Citadel, which suffered serious damage (up to 80%) by an earthquake on 26 December 2003. Other large adobe structures are the Huaca del Sol in Peru, with 100 million signed bricks, theciudellas of Chan Chan and Tambo Colorado, both in Peru (in South America).

TAOS PUEBLO IS THE OLDEST GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE PURE ADOBE CITY IN AMERICA; BUILT IN THE YEAR 1000

The Taos Pueblo is the oldest community built from local green and sustainable materials that is still being lived in today in America. It has been lived in for over 1,000 years continuously, with very few changes.

Wikipedia; "Taos Pueblo's most prominent architectural feature is a multi-storied residential complex of reddish-brown adobe, built on either side of the Rio Pueblo. The Pueblo's website states it was probably built between 1000 and 1450 CE.[4] The pueblo was designated a National Historic Landmark on October 9, 1960. In 1992 it was designated as a UNESCO Heritage Site. As of 2006, about 150 people live in the historic complex full-time.[4]

Taos Pueblo 082.JPG

The homes in this structure usually consist of two rooms, one of which is for general living and sleeping, and the second of which is for cooking, eating, and storage. Each home is self-contained; there are no passageways between the houses. Taos Indians made little use of furniture in the past, but today they have tables, chairs, and beds. In the pueblo, electricity, running water, and indoor plumbing are prohibited.[7]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taos_Pueblo

When an adobe dwelling is no longer needed, repairs are not done on the dwelling, and the rains melt the adobe material home back down into the dirt around it. No work needs to be done and nothing needs to be taken to the landfill.

If a new dwelling needs to be built, dirt and straw is used to create the building materials using only the local dirt, and the dwelling is built by the local residents of the same community, thus providing LOCAL employment, income and jobs...

These people have been thinking about 7 future generations since 1,000 years ago, and not causing harm to them. Maybe we can learn something from them, instead of attacking them, demeaning them, and discriminating against them via many methods. Maybe it is time to LISTEN to these teachers, instead of trying to force our destructive ways of life on them?

WHY DOES CUTTING OUT THE LUNGS OF THE PLANET AND CREATING DESERTS SEEM LIKE SUCH A GOOD IDEA? SHORT TERM PROFIT MOTIVE, NO THOUGHT FOR 7 FUTURE GENERATIONS

Why is it that cutting out the lungs of the planet by chopping down trees is seen as 'normal' and just good business?

Up To 58,000 Square Miles Of Forest Lost Globally Each Year, Equivalent of 36 Football Fields Every Minute, Cutting Out The Lungs Of Earth, Eliminating The Source Of Oxygen Production, Increases CO2

Trees are the lungs of the planet. It does not make any sense to chop out pieces of the lungs just to build homes that then need to be taken to the dump, when they are worn out. The whole process of building homes from unsustainable materials including trees is destroying the world that 7 future generations must live in.

CLEAR CUTTING FORESTS IS CAUSING HUGE AREAS OF THE PLANET TO TURN INTO DESERT AND IT IS CHANGING THE CLIMATE, REDUCING RAINFALL, INCREASING STORMS INTENSITY AND DESTRUCTION

Clear cutting forests results in desertification globally. Humanity is cutting down forests at a crisis rate, and desertification is spreading globally.

SUMMARY

What does it take to be happy and not harm 7 future generations?

Maybe we can learn to simplify and create things plus buildings that do not harm 7 future generations...

Does it take huge mansions costing millions of dollars, built out of materials that are mainly toxic, consume huge amounts of carbon energy and then leaving a huge carbon footprint?

Maybe it is time to make some huge transformations happen, before the whole world is destroyed and this toxic, carbon fuel/nuclear fuel addiction causes the extinction of all of humanity and life on the planet?

How about simplifying and rethinking what is ok to build, according to what kind of carbon/resource footprint the building materials cause, and how toxic or non toxic they are.

What kind of homes would be built if we made a choice about what everything that went into them, and the potential harm that it causes to 7 future generations?

This is the age of transformation. Thinking in the same old way that got us into this mess will not solve the problems that humanity is facing now.
