Via stock July 25, 2016 I have a Masters Degree in Material Science from the U of Michigan. My education includes 5 years of study and research in radiation and heavy metals.

I am surprised and even shocked that an agency (that we pay your salaries, remember) created to protect the people, is proposing a standard that is effectively allowing an equivalent to 250 chest xrays a year.
This is shameful for a modern and so called civilized society to allow the people who pay your salary to protect them, to be exposed to these massive levels of radiation. Of course, internal radiation is far far worse than external radiation.

I also protest the "weasel words" of calling this "non regulatory guidance". Those civic leaders who have no where near the education and experience that I have, cannot possibly take this "guidance" if passed, as anything other than a directive.

The EPA needs to fight back against the corporate and nuclear cartel that is pulling the strings to loosen up the rules so this top heavy and archaic "science" that we call Civilian nuclear power, can have a chance at existing. Start representing us, again, and stop the puppet like response to the $1.4 Billion per year that the nuclear cartel spends to promote themselves and influence the EPA. Make us proud! Don't kill us. Don't pre-plan and allow more tolerance for a nuclear disaster at our aging nuclear plants that are averaging 2 emergency shutdowns per week."

Washington, DC — In the last days of the Obama Administration, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is about to dramatically increase allowable public exposure to radioactivity to levels thousands of times above the maximum limits of the Safe Drinking Water Act, according to documents the agency surrendered in a federal lawsuit brought by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). These radical rollbacks cover the “intermediate period” following a radiation release and could last for up to several years. This plan is in its final stage of approval.

WHY EPA NEEDS TO REDUCE RADIATION LIMITS DRASTICALLY, INSTEAD OF RAISING THEM AS THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY ALWAYS DESIRES


If anything, they should be REDUCING radiation limits and exposures DRASTICALLY, not increasing them again and again.

WHY ICRP SHOULD BE KICKED OUT OF EPA DECISION MAKING PROCESS


The EPA is going to use input from the ICRP; which is funded by the nuclear industry. Anyone see any problems with that? Your comments might include that all input from ICRP should be banned, as it is biased and corrupt, and that organization cannot be trusted. EPA PROPOSING TO GARNISH WAGES WITH NO HEARINGS OR COURT PROCEEDINGS, ANTI CONSTITUTIONAL TAKING


via stock July 9, 2014 As EPA is in process of increasing "safe" radiation levels, they can also take your wages without any type of court proceeding or hearing. Hmmmmm, who are these people?

According to The Washington Times, the agency announced the plan to enhance its purview last week in a notice in the Federal Register. The notice claimed that federal law allows the EPA to "garnish non-Federal wages to collect delinquent non-tax debts owed the United States without first obtaining a court order." The notice went on to say that the EPA had fast-tracked the new rule, enabling it to take effect September 2 unless the agency receives enough adverse public comments by August 1. The EPA said the rule was not subject to review because it was not a "significant regulatory action."

Via Joe Pork Earmarks "There is nothing wrong with an agency collecting a legal debt. But, what's creates a legal debt anymore? Agencies were required to give administrative due process, appealable to a court after that if the person chose. But this is another power grab by EPA. It's not so much the debt, but what they decide to fine. Really, a pond on your own property? Soon they'll fine farmers for growing crops because they aren't indigenous to that land."

What are the odds that this law will NOT be used against the huge pollution nuclear and carbon companies with billions at their disposal to fight actions like this? Who is left? Small companies and individuals, who have no resources to fight back will more than likely be the recipients of taking without any due process, which violates the Constitution of the US.. 

Now, does EPA follow the Constitution, or NOT?

SUMMARY


The EPA is supposed to be at the forefront of protecting public health and confronting huge monopolistic corporations when they commit corporate crimes of pollution and/or environmental destruction. These companies should be forced to pay for what they destroy, and pollute. In fact, what happens is that the public ends up paying for the clean up and companies get off the hook in almost all cases, with all of their profits, skipping town and legally avoiding any liability. 

When a nuclear accident happens, instead of forcing the companies involved to be accountable and pay for damages, they are given more money and profits to 'clean up', and the taxpayer pays for the damages and bills caused by the nuclear companies.. The Superfund clean up fund used to be paid for by corporations. Now it is for the most part, paid for by taxpayers.
