Benefits Of LED Lighting Technology - Trump Tries To Drag LED Lighting Technology Back Into Dark Ages In USA - Free Gravity Lighting, Free Solar Bottle Lighting Can Meet Sustainable LED Powered Lighting Needs For 1.5 Billion People Who Have Zero Access To Electricity

Energy.gov "The light-emitting diode (LED) is one of today's most energy-efficient and rapidly-developing lighting technologies. Quality LED light bulbs last longer, are more durable, and offer comparable or better light quality than other types of lighting. Check out the top 8 things you didn't know about LEDs to learn more.

Energy Savings

LED is a highly energy efficient lighting technology, and has the potential to fundamentally change the future of lighting in the United States. Residential LEDs -- especially ENERGY STAR rated products -- use at least 75% less energy, and last 25 times longer, than incandescent lighting.

Widespread use of LED lighting has the greatest potential impact on energy savings in the United States. By 2027, widespread use of LEDs could save about 348 TWh (compared to no LED use) of electricity: This is the equivalent annual electrical output of 44 large electric power plants (1000 megawatts each), and a total savings of more than $30 billion at today's electricity prices.

How LEDs are Different

LED lighting is very different from other lighting sources such as incandescent bulbs and CFLs. Key differences include the following:

Light Source: LEDs are the size of a fleck of pepper, and a mix of red, green, and blue LEDs is typically used to make white light.

Direction: LEDs emit light in a specific direction, reducing the need for reflectors and diffusers that can trap light. This feature makes LEDs more efficient for many uses such as recessed downlights and task lighting. With other types of lighting, the light must be reflected to the desired direction and more than half of the light may never leave the fixture.

Heat: LEDs emit very little heat. In comparison, incandescent bulbs release 90% of their energy as heat and CFLs release about 80% of their energy as heat.

LED Products

LED lighting is currently available in a wide variety of home and industrial products, and the list is growing every year. The rapid development of LED technology leads to more products and improved manufacturing efficiency, which also results in lower prices. Below are some of the most common types of LED products.

Industrial and Commercial Lighting

The high efficiency and directional nature of LEDs makes them ideal for many industrial uses. LEDs are increasingly common in street lights, parking garage lighting, walkway and other outdoor area lighting, refrigerated case lighting, modular lighting, and task lighting.

Kitchen Under-Cabinet Lighting

Because LEDs are small and directional, they are ideal for lighting countertops for cooking and reading recipes. The color can appear more cool or blue than is typically desirable in a kitchen, and there can be some excessive shadowing in some fixtures, so it is important to compare products to find the best fixture for your space.

Recessed Downlights

Recessed downlights are commonly used in residential kitchens, hallways, and bathrooms, and in a number of office and commercial settings. DOE estimates there are at least 500 million recessed downlights installed in U.S. homes, and more than 20 million are sold each year. Both CFL and LED technology can decrease downlight wattage by 75% or more.

LED Replacement Bulbs

With performance improvements and dropping prices, LED lamps can replace 40, 60, and even 75 Watt incandescent bulbs. It's important to read the Lighting Facts Label to make sure the product is the right brightness and color for the intended location. When chosen carefully, LED replacement products can be an excellent option.

LED Holiday Lights

LEDs consume far less electricity than incandescent bulbs, and decorative LED light strings such as Christmas tree lights are no different. Not only do LED holiday lights consume less electricity, they also have the following advantages:

Safer: LEDs are much cooler than incandescent lights, reducing the risk of combustion or burnt fingers.

Sturdier: LEDs are made with epoxy lenses, not glass, and are much more resistant to breakage.

Longer lasting: The same LED string could still be in use 40 holiday seasons from now.

Easier to install: Up to 25 strings of LEDs can be connected end-to-end without overloading a wall socket.

WHY WOULD ANYONE WITH EVEN A MINUTE AMOUNT OF COMMON SENSE CHOOSE LED LIGHT BULBS?

Why would any person or government with even a minimum of common sense choose LED light bulbs over incandescent or other types of bulbs?

LED's deliver the same amount of light, but use 85% less energy

LED's last 25 times as long.

LED's fit into just about any light socket.

LED's are fully dimmable.

LED's come in many color hues, such as bright white, soft white, and more.

Bottom line, anyone who wants to save 85% on their utility (light) bill, will choose to switch away from everything else and go with 100 percent LED, which is by far, the most cost effective form of lighting available, other than a skylight.

TRUMP DRAGS USA BACK INTO COAL AND NUCLEAR AGE, ALONG WITH OBSOLETE ENERGY WASTING INCANDESCENT LIGHT BULBS

Trump hates anything to do with energy efficiency, renewable energy or the future. Trump is attempting to drag people back to the days of toxic coal, nuclear, racism, bigotry, denying global warming and hatred of anything other than white supremacy.

Trump administration tries to drag light bulbs back into the dark ages
Pushed by industry groups, the Energy Department said in February it would withdraw an Obama-era rule that would extend efficiency standards to categories of lighting not originally covered under the 2007 law.

These include reflector bulbs used in recessed lighting, candle-shaped bulbs for chandeliers and sconces, and globes for bathroom fixtures. All together, these constitute almost half of the nation’s 6 billion light sockets.

The savings could be enormous, the equivalent of closing down 25 coal-burning power plants, says Noah Horowitz, a scientist with the Natural Resources Defense Council.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND LED BULB FEATURES?

IT IS POSSIBLE TO LIVE OFF THE GRID USING SOLAR POWER PANELS, LED LIGHTS AND VERY EFFICIENT APPLIANCES

What if you had zero power bills?

Is it possible?

The answer is yes.

Michael P Byron Christmas tree is up!

Year FIVE off grid.

LED lights use very little of our house battery power at night!

WHEN 1.5 BILLION PEOPLE LIVE ON LESS THAN $2 PER DAY, INNOVATIVE AND LOW COST LIGHTING SOLUTIONS ARE REQUIRED

What works in the developed world, such as the LED dimmable recessed lightbulb shown, will not work for the 1.5 billion people living in undeveloped countries.

1.5 Billion people live around the world making less than $2 per day.

Those same people have no access to electricity.

Can you imagine living without any electricity, permanently, and then trying to figure out a lighting solution that fits inside of this zero electricity available situation?

What kind of lighting solution would work for someone who lives outside of a grid, because there is none to hook up to, and where there is zero electricity available?

LIGHTBULBS ARE BEING MADE OUT OF PLASTIC BOTTLES AND SCRAP PIECE OF METAL

The cheapest light bulb in the world costs less than $1.00 to make. A plastic light bulb is filled with a mixture of water and chlorine bleach, then sealed. It is sealed into a hole in the roof, or a patch of a piece of metal, put into the existing roof in whatever way. Of course, it helps to have some kind of adhesive to waterproof the lightbulb into the roof.

This low tech device provides the same amount of light as a 50 watt bulb during daylight hours.

GRAVITY BULBS

An electric-powered device is called "Gravity Light," which costs just $5.00, uses the force of gravity to keep the lights on. VOA's Paul Ndiho has more.

SUMMARY

LED light bulbs are sold in hardware stores all around the world, but that does not mean they are a solution for the 1.5 billion people living without electricity.

For a total of around $1 one time cost, permanent and free daylight can be created in a small home. The savings on fuel oil from not having to spend money on carbon based fuel will eventually pay for the night time light, which costs around $5.

With the savings from not having to buy carbon fuel for the night time lighting, other low cost electronic devices can be saved for and purchased. The night light can also serve as a charging device, for a cell phone or it can power a small radio, thus creating a connection into the larger world.

Several families pool their money together, and purchase the cell phone or radio and then share it in a cooperative manner.

For less than $7 one time cost, lighting both during the day and night can be accomplished in the average family home for 1.5 Billion people who have no access to electricity.
