Calculate Your Carbon FOOD Based Footprint; Eating Beef/Dairy Animal Products Creates Huge Carbon Footprint And Is Largest Source Of Global Warming Carbon Pollution Globally; What Is Single Best Thing To Achieve A Zero Carbon Lifestyle? Keto Diet Kills More People Than Tobacco

HERE ARE THE TWO BEST REASONS WHY A MEAT AND DAIRY HEAVY DIET SHOULD BE AVOIDED

There are two major reasons why a meat heavy, dairy heavy diet should be avoided.

1.   10 peer reviewed studies have proved that those who eat a meat heavy diet are sicker, get cancer and other disease more often, and die younger than those who do the opposite.

2.  Environmental studies have shown that a meat heavy eater has a bigger carbon footprint and causes more global warming than any other category of daily living. An environmentalist who eats a Keto diet is causing more global warming than an energy hog living in an all electric house, who is vegan.

Bottom line, if you want to be healthier, live longer and reduce global warming, the best thing you can do is to cut down on the amount of meat and dairy that you eat on a daily basis.

Let's go deeper and find out more, including how to measure the carbon footprint of a typical diet.

THE MYTH BEING PROMOTED BY THE HUGE ANIMAL FACTORY FARMING CORPORATIONS IS THAT EVERYONE NEEDS MORE PROTEIN FROM MEAT/DAIRY SOURCES; LET'S DEBUNK THAT

Another reason for and benefit of switching to a plant based diet is a huge saving on the food bill.

Foods like rice and beans are 'DRY', which means they absorb water and expand after cooking. So one does not pay for any water content in food with dried foods, beans, rices, etc. Buying dried plant based foods is like getting food for free, because water is very cheap. Add cheap water to dried foods, and it magically expands 100 percent or more in volume during cooking.

On the meat and dairy heavy purchasing side, much of the food budget is going to buy very expensive WATER in that animal based diet. Many meats are now INJECTED WITH WATER on top of this, to make them weigh more, because they are sold by the pound.

People who eat a high meat/dairy content diet are wasting a LOT OF MONEY on buying water inside of meat/dairy. Injected water comes out during cooking, which means that those foods shrink, often between 10 to 50 percent by WEIGHT during the cooking process..

Bottom line, if one is watching the budget, a prudent financially conservative person will switch away from a heavy meat diet to a plant based diet, so that more money is available for investments, family, vacations, etc.. and to be able to eat twice as much or more on a smaller food budget.

KETO MEAT HEAVY DIET KILLS MORE PEOPLE THAN TOBACCO PRODUCTS

Keto/Meat-Heavy Diets Now Kill More People Than Tobacco | LIVEKINDLY
Published in The Lancet journal, the study tracked consumption trends in 195 countries by looking at data from between 1995 and 2017.

Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, it shows that a poor diet can be associated with one-fifth of deaths worldwide.

Dr. Ashkan Afshin, an assistant professor of Health Metrics Sciences at the University of Washington, and one of the study’s authors characterized “poor diet” for CBS News.

Cardiac Doctor Debunks KETO DIET | LIVEKINDLY

He explained, “Poor dietary habits, which is a combination of high intake of unhealthy foods, such as red meat, processed meat, and sugar-sweetened beverages and a low intake of healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and seeds, overall causes more deaths than any other risk factors globally.”

WHAT IS NOT MEASURED, CANNOT BE CHANGED FOR THE BETTER, BECAUSE THERE IS ZERO AWARENESS OF THE PROBLEM WITHOUT MEASUREMENT, RESULTING IN NO ACCOUNTABILITY, NO PROGRESS

70 percent of Americans call themselves 'environmentalists'. But out of those millions of people, how many have done a carbon footprint analysis? In one recent audience of several hundred ardent environmentalists attending an environmental event focused on global warming, only 3 had performed a carbon footprint analysis.

How many of those environmentalists have done a carbon footprint analysis of their food consumption choices? In the above cutting edge environmental activists audience, NO ONE had done a carbon footprint analysis for their food choices.

The problem is huge, but so is the opportunity.

The standard rule in creating change is that one first has to measure the starting point. Without measuring how big the problem is, nothing can be done, and nothing will change. Once something is measured to give a starting point, then goals can be set, and goals can be accomplished.

Measuring the problem is the first step to solving it. When environmental groups and others refuse to even talk about, much less measure this carbon footprint, what they are saying is that they do not want to measure or address the issue, nor solve the issue.

Meatonomics author says government working with meat and dairy industry to boost consumption | Science | The Guardian
In the US, a similar “checkoff” was imposed on cattle imports and sales to fund promotion and marketing of beef and beef products.
“Both in the US and Australia, our federal governments are engaged in a campaign to support industry and bombard us with messages to get us to consume more meat, eggs and dairy,” Simon said.

“We can say without controversy or doubt that when a checkoff program speaks in the US – when it says drink more milk, eat more beef – that is the federal government of our country telling consumers to eat more animal foods.”

He said the same forces were at work in Australia, where industry had influence over standard-setting, and legislation decriminalised abuse of factory-raised animals and insulated the producers from scrutiny and liability.

A CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE IN BOTH GOVERNMENT AND IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS IS DOOMING HUMANITY TO EXTINCTION

Ignoring and denying both root causes and sustainable solutions is epidemic in our modern human society.

Call up the largest environmental groups or have a conversation with an environmentalist fighting global warming or pointing at scientific studies that link CO2 with global warming impacts. Ask them where the largest source of global warming pollution comes from. They will more than likely answer that global warming is the fault of the 'fossil fuel industry'. Ask them if there is another source of global warming gases.

Strangely, many to most of these environmentalists will not mention the meat and dairy industry, which is the largest source of global warming emissions, even ahead of the fossil fuel industry. Why is this? If you knew that the largest source of global warming emissions was the cow industry, wouldn't you focus energy and time on that source as the first place to make change happen? If not, why not?

The following trailer gives a short introduction into the conspiracy of silence that surrounds pretty much all of the environmental groups, and the global warming carbon pollution around animals raised to be eaten.

RAIN FORESTS AND TREES ALL AROUND THE WORLD ARE BEING CUT DOWN TO CREATE PASTURES FOR BEEF COWS, WHICH ACCELERATES GLOBAL WARMING

With so much land currently being used to raise livestock or the food to feed them, it’s a constant challenge to find adequate pasture land to meet demand. This means that producers have had to create pastures where there weren’t any originally, with world forests being a popular choice. Currently, 260 million acres (and counting) of U.S. forests have been clear-cut to create land used to produce livestock feed, and 80 percent of the deforestation in the Amazon rainforest is attributed to beef production. So, what do we get out of this deal? For the price of one acre of land, we get a yield of 250 pounds of beef. You may say to yourself, “Hey, that seems pretty good. That’s, like, 1000 quarter pound hamburger patties per acre!” When you consider that the same amount of land can produce 50,000 pounds of tomatoes, up to 53,000 pounds of potatoes or 30,000 pounds of carrots it doesn’t seem like such a great use of space anymore.

WHY IS NO MASS MEDIA OR ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP TALKING ABOUT THE HUGE METHANE PROBLEM AROUND RAISING OF BEEF FOR MILK, CHEESE AND MEAT?

And then of course, there is the global warming methane/CO2 gases produced by the cows, and the cutting down and burning of the trees, which is more CO2… and then the long distance shipping of that beef from where it is raised to where it is consumed, which is more CO2.

MuseumFacts Cows emit lot more methane than the entire oil industry and are a huge factor in global warming.

PlantWarrior Cows are bred at a higher rate to meet the demand for dairy. This increases the world’s total methane emissions and contributes towards global warming.

Methane’s almost 100 times more powerful than Carbon Dioxide for trapping heat in the earth’s atmosphere. This has a dangerous impact on human and environmental health

There is more to global warming than just the global warming gas CO2. Methane is around 100 times more potent in terms of it's global warming effect, so a much smaller amount is required to create the same negative impact that CO2 does.

75 PERCENT OF BEEF IS WRONGLY LABELED AS COMING FROM THE USA, WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY BEEF, PART OF WHICH COMES FROM RAIN FOREST AREAS, WHICH CONTRIBUTES TO CUTTING DOWN RAIN FOREST AND ACCELERATING GLOBAL WARMING

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR MEAT COMES FROM? 75 PERCENT OF BEEF IS WRONGLY LABELED AS PRODUCT OF THE USA
MAY 31, 2018 A GREEN ROAD DAILY NEWS
Harris, who estimates at least 75 percent of the grassfed beef consumed in America comes from Australia, New Zealand or Uruguay, says American consumers are being intentionally misled. Millions of pounds of beef, imported from other countries, are being wrongly labeled as “Product of the USA,” Harris said.

Mike Callicrate of Ranch Foods Direct agrees. He told us that:

“U.S. grassfed producers can’t come close to competing with cost of production of South American, Australian and New Zealand imports, especially considering producers in the exporting countries are similarly being exploited, forced to produce below cost, by the same multinational packers.

“I just returned from a ranch tour in Argentina. They think it’s funny that most South American beef is considered ‘grassfed.’ They said that may have been true 20 years ago, but not today. Their highest-quality cattle prices were 30 percent below the U.S. at the time of my visit. South American beef has also been falsely considered organic by default.”

Beef is perhaps the BIGGEST contributor to global warming due to the beef industry cutting down rain forests to create pasture for cows, which have a huge global warming impact.

LIVESTOCK FACTORY FARM ANIMAL PRODUCTS INDUSTRY IS THE LARGEST CAUSE OF GLOBAL WARMING GASES, AHEAD OF CARBON FUEL PRODUCTION INDUSTRIES

As per the United Nations1, the livestock industry is the single largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions globally (18% of global carbon emissions = 7.8 bn tons of carbon dioxide per annum). To put this in perspective, the livestock sector contributes:

38% more emissions than that produced by all our oil, coal, gas and other power plants (energy share: 13%)

28% more emissions than all the cars, buses, planes, ships, trucks, trains in the world put together (transportation share: 14%)

12.5% more emissions than every factory in the world (industrial share: 16%)

KG OF CARBON EMISSIONS PRODUCED PER KILOGRAM OF PRODUCT FOR FOOD

Let's convert the above numbers into pounds.....

CALCULATE YOUR FOOD CONSUMPTION CARBON FOOTPRINT

Many Americans and Europeans love to follow something akin to the Atkins diet, which involves eating only high protein foods, such as meat, cheese and high protein ANIMAL based foods. The average American diet involves the roughly the same amount of protein, but adds carbs on top of this. Is it any wonder there is an obesity problem?

An ordinary American breakfast may include two sausage links, plus 2 or 3 eggs. Lunch may be a tin of tuna on salad.  Dinner might consist of 9 ounces of steak, hamburger, pork and/or chicken.

WHAT IS YOUR DAILY CONSUMPTION OF ANIMAL PROTEIN?

Taking the average American high protein diet and converting it into ounces, we can add them together and get a total....

One average day of a high protein diet may include the following average portions of protein;

1 Meatball serving 23 grams             = 9 ounces
2 eggs about 2.25 ounces per egg     = 5 ounces
1/4 cup of Cheese                              = 1 ounce
Fillet of fish                                      =  6 ounces
----------------------------------------------------------
21 ounces animal protein, per day

16 ounces = 1 pound

The average high protein diet totals more than 1 pound of animal protein per day. Even if the meatball serving was reduced to 5 ounces, the total amount still comes in at over 1 pound total of protein alone.

Check your high protein diet and see how much total animal protein is included in it.

In most of the developing world and historically, animal protein was eaten only in very small servings and rarely, not on a daily basis.

At most, a TOTAL DAILY animal protein serving per person would total 2 - 4 ounces, the equivalent of a tuna can. Indigenous people lived in harmony with Nature, animals and the land. Eating only a small amount of meat daily allowed wild animals to flourish. Most of the nutrition for indigenous tribes all around the world came from tubers, roots, vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts and grains.

MOST INDIGENOUS SOCIETIES LIVING IN HARMONY WITH THE EARTH EAT VERY LITTLE OR NO ANIMAL PROTEIN PER DAY

Most indigenous societies rely on a vegan or vegetarian diet, and they eat much less animal protein than the above on a daily basis. Throughout history, most of the world has received most to all of their protein from other root, grain, nut, and/or seed sources.

But the disruption of traditional lifestyles due to environmental degradation, and the introduction of processed foods, refined fats and oils, and simple carbohydrates, contributes to worsening health in indigenous populations, and a decline in the production of nutrient-rich foodstuffs that could benefit all communities.
http://womennewsnetwork.net/2014/01/25/ancient-indigenous-diets/

WHERE DID THE MYTH OF A HIGH PROTEIN (KETO) ANIMAL BASED DIET BEING HEALTHY GET STARTED?

If a person were to eat only some form of beef every day and get their total portion of protein from beef, or chicken, or cheese, or eggs on every single day for a year, the following graph is what the carbon dioxide (CO2) is what happens on a global level. The CO2 emissions skyrocket up like a rocket.

Remember that a full can of tuna is about 4 to 5 ounces and this can be used as a rough estimate for other protein types. What foods such as chicken, beef, pork or eggs will fit in a tuna can and equal 4 - 5 ounces? Many people will eat double or even triple that amount of beef, just for dinner.

The belief is that A LARGE steak (and now being exported to many other developing nations) is considered a sign of 'good health' because everyone knows that the beef industry has pushed the 'more beef is better mantra' for generations now through beef industry PR, fast food chains, and restaurants.

It has reached the point now, where the average consumer believes that unless they eat a massive amount of animal protein each meal, that they are not getting enough protein, even though this is a complete lie.. A person with a healthy weight and muscle to fat ratio is looked at as if they are unhealthy because they are too 'skinny'.

CONSEQUENCES OF A HIGH PROTEIN DIET INCLUDE KETOSIS; AN ACID IMBALANCE, WHICH CAN CREATE DISEASES

A keto animal based diet is extremely unhealthy. Here is the reason why... let's go deeper into this...

Wikipedia; "Ketoacidosis
Main article: Ketoacidosis

Ketone bodies are acidic, but acid-base homeostasis in the blood is normally maintained through bicarbonate buffering, respiratory compensation to vary the amount of CO2 in the bloodstream, hydrogen ion absorption by tissue proteins and bone, and renal compensation through increased excretion of dihydrogen phosphate and ammonium ions.[9] Prolonged excess of ketone bodies can overwhelm normal compensatory mechanisms, leading to acidosis if blood pH falls below 7.35.

There are two major causes of ketoacidosis:

Most commonly, ketoacidosis is diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), resulting from increased fat metabolism due to a shortage of insulin. It is associated primarily with type I diabetes, and may result in a diabetic coma if left untreated.[10]

Alcoholic ketoacidosis (AKA) presents infrequently, but can occur with acute alcohol intoxication, most often following a binge in alcoholics with acute or chronic liver or pancreatic disorders. Alcoholic ketoacidosis occurs more frequently following methanol or ethylene glycol intoxication than following intoxication with uncontaminated ethanol.[11]

Acidosis may result from prolonged fasting or when following a ketogenic diet or a very low calorie diet.[12][13]...Also, when the body is in ketosis, one's breath may smell of acetone. This is due to the breakdown of acetoacetic acid into acetone and carbon dioxide which is exhaled through the lungs. Acetone is the chemical responsible for the smell of nail polish remover and some paint thinners.

TOTAL YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT PER YEAR FROM FOOD, BY ADDING FRACTIONS OF EACH SECTION, DEPENDING ON YOUR DIET, OR BY MULTIPLYING POUNDS OF CO2 PER DAY, PER FOOD ITEM

TYPE OF FOOD         POUNDS CO2 EQUIVALENT FOR EVERY 1 POUND EATEN

Beef                                 35.7149        x 365 Days = 13,035.9       x family of 4 = 52,140 lbs CO2
Cheese                             20.2825        x 365 Days =   7,403          x family of 4 = 29,612 lbs CO2
Pork                                 12.3459        x 365 Days =   4,506          x family of 4 = 18,025 lbs CO2
Chicken                             8.1571         x 365 Days =  2,977          x family of 4 = 11,908 lbs CO2
Eggs                                  4.62971       x 365 Days =  1,690          x family of 4 =    6,759 lbs CO2
Potatoes                               0.661387   x 365 Days =      241            x family of 4 =   964 lbs CO2
Lettuce                                0.220462    x 365 Days =        80            x family of 4 =   364 lbs CO2
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Single Person Grand total: _________    Family Of 4 Total:______________

                                                                                                 Pets Total:______________

What is your carbon footprint in terms of what you and your family and your PETS eat as far as animal sourced products is concerned? Remember to weigh average portions, and then use the above figures or a percentage of them. Then add all of the above items together for a grand total... Most people eat proteins from more than one category.

Now add the emissions that come from food via transport and storage, but not from raising the food item itself. Remember that unless you raise the animal on site and by yourself, or you get the meat product from a farm down the street, there are more food emissions that come from long distance transport and storage..

A longer list of CO2 footprint of foods plus more information worth reading is included below, thanks to http://www.greeneatz.com/foods-carbon-footprint.html

Figures come from the Environmental Working Group’s Meat Eater’s Guide and the EPA’s Guide to Passenger Vehicle Emissions

Many assumptions are made to figure out these numbers, so the real numbers may be much higher or lower, based on things like the amount of rainforest cut down to create pasture for cows raised for beef consumption, and the long transport lines from South America to America, just as one example.

THE NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECT OF A HIGH PROTEIN DIET IS POTASSIUM AND MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY, RESULTING IN ALL KINDS OF DISEASES, ACID IMBALANCE AND BIG C

High dietary protein intake generates endogenous acid production, which may adversely affect bone health. High protein diets result in a potassium deficiency, which then affects bone health, resulting in things like arthritis, etc.

High-protein diets in rats are used to produce severe magnesium deficiency.1 Severe magnesium deficiency produces an obligate loss of potassium and potassium deficiency that cannot be repleted by potassium alone.

Via Liz S I am 42 years old with Hashimoto's hypothyroid. I ate the SAD diet all my life and would try to cut calories to lose weight. In the past I had tried low-carb, low-fat, and many other diets. I kept gaining weight, had no energy, and could see myself growing older by the day. One day in June I cried all day because I felt so horrible. That day I started reading or watching anything about health I could find. I decided to try an organic vegan whole food plant based lifestyle. Today I am 28 lbs lighter and off my thyroid medicine. This way of eating is extreme compared to the way almost everyone else eats, but I can finally see my health returning.

WHAT YOU CAN DO; THE FIRST STEP TO SOLVING ANY PROBLEM IS MEASURING

Normal carbon footprint calculators such as the one below, do NOT address what is eaten, or how far the food item traveled before it was eaten, but they should. What people eat is just about as important as the energy they consume.

Why would food be left out of the carbon foot print equation?

Have you worked out a total food carbon footprint?                     ________________

What is your carbon energy consumption footprint?                    _________________

Now add them together and you will get a starting point... ______________________

WHAT YOU CAN DO; REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

The next step is to work on reducing this yearly carbon footprint as much as possible.. Set a goal to reduce your carbon footprint by a certain percentage within a year. Now work on the goal step by step. Once a year, do an analysis and see how far you have progressed. Set another goal and analyze what went wrong, why certain roadblocks could not be overcome, etc...

How much can you do? What can your family do? What can your neighborhood do? What can your workplace do? What can your community do? What can your church or faith home do?

Start small and work outwards, from the bottom up. The only way humanity will make it through is by reducing the carbon foot print from all sources by a huge amount.

The only thing that was a little difficult in the beginning is to learn what fat was more healthy and learn about fruit, vegetables, nuts, and seeds who differ from nutrients, so my diet would be complete. Its not only for my healthy, but also because the meat INDUSTRY is immoral, cruel and soulless and the environment is being destroyed fast! Nothing but positive facts by being a vegan :-)

WHAT YOU CAN DO; EAT MORE VEGAN FOODS, AND CHOOSE VEGAN FAST FOODS

Move Over McDonald’s, The Future Of Fast Food Is Vegan
In August this year, a former Burger King restaurant in Encinitas, California, was taken over by another company which continued to serve burgers, fries and shakes via the drive-thru window. There was one major difference though: the items on the menu are all vegan.

Plant Power Fast Food moved into the premises previously occupied by the fast-food giant to open its second location after the successful launch of its flagship store in Ocean Beach, San Diego, just 18 months earlier in January, 2016.

WHAT YOU CAN DO; EXAMINE A CHAIN OF LOVING EVENTS

The Creator Writings: A Chain Of Loving Events
via Jennifer Farley, The Creator Writings

Today you are being invited to really look at what is in your heart? Look closely, my dearest, at the parts and pieces you have hidden away…bring them into the light and examine them closely! Your heart will dictate the direction your life will move and how you view the world. If there is something you want to change, change it.

If you would like to experience something different, then take the first steps toward it. Releasing the ‘burdens’ of your heart will be extremely important in the next few weeks and months. Any change, however minuscule, will begin to reverberate out into your existence and begin a chain of loving events your Earth plane so desperately needs now. The Universe has faith in and knows you can do this. ~ Creator
