South Korea Judge Rules That Nuclear Plant Emissions Caused Thyroid Cancers In Nearby Community, Class Action Lawsuit Filed

It is really hard to find and present evidence of harm caused by the nuclear industry, as explained by Arnie Gunderson and a lawyer. Even the regulators tend to act more like marketers and protectors of the nuclear industry, rather than protecting the public or helping those harmed by radiation get compensated. This is a global issue. Don't count on anyone to protect you or your health. 

A lawsuit is about the only chance you have of getting any protection or compensation.

Via rogerthat October 21, 2014 "…The decision is Korea’s first ruling on whether there is a relation between the location of nuclear plants and cancer in nearby residents, according to a court spokesman and Leem Jong-han, a professor of occupational medicine at Inha University. Mr. Leem, who advised the judges in the case, said there is a high possibility that radiation from nuclear power plants caused an increase in the number of thyroid cancer patients in nearby Korean communities.

In its ruling, the court cited a government-commissioned study in 2011 that showed women living within five kilometers of nuclear plants had 2.5 times higher incidences of thyroid cancer than women living 30 kilometers or further from the plants….

I was surprised by the high readings in Korea monitors. If you look at the green bars in the charts to the right of Japan Korea maps Fuku tops all ( numbers unavailable ) but in all other Korean monitors here the readings are much higher than Japan."

Florida Power & Light Co. and Duke Energy Florida have been hit with a class-action lawsuit alleging that millions of dollars in nuclear construction costs the companies charge their customers are unlawful, the suit filed Monday by consumer rights law firm Hagens Berman says.

The suit filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida still has to be certified by a court. It accuses Duke Energy and FPL of overcharging through alleged unconstitutional price hikes that increase customers’ electricity bills to fund nuclear plant projects.

Since 2008, the Florida Public Service Commission has authorized the two utilities to collect more than $2 billion in nuclear costs from customers. The lawsuit alleges that Florida’s nuclear cost recovery system violates the Commerce Clause and is preempted by the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 and the Energy Policy Act of 2005 under the Supremacy Clause. …

Without any nuclear plants making nuclear bomb fuel, nuclear bombs can not be built. It will be easier to dismantle existing nuclear bombs with no operating nuclear facilities that release invisible heavy metal radioactive poisons into the surrounding communities. 


SUMMARY

As more people find out about the negative health effects of nuclear power plants and other facilities, more lawsuits may be filed. The outrage will grow as the negative health effects will only continue to grow and get worse with time and the increasing number of radiation sources globally, in ships, subs, plants, medical facilities, mines, processing, recycling, storage, oil drilling, fracking, space satellites, rockets, war, bullets, missiles, weapons, and much more.

Because man made radiation 'spills' and/or legal emissions are completely invisible, no one knows anything about the poisoning that is going on all around the world.
