MODERN AMERICAN GLOBAL IMPERIAL 1 PERCENT CONTROLLED INTERVENTIONIST US EMPIRE FOUND SUCCESS PLUS GROWTH VIA THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR

Although it gets short shrift in the history textbooks, in many ways the modern American empire can find its origins in the Spanish-American War. Today we talk to James Perloff of JamesPerloff.com about his article on the war, “Trial Run for Interventionism,” and how the bankers used their media and political connections to launch the war and introduce foreign interventionism to the American psyche.

War and Deception, Part 1: The Spanish-American War

As one empire falls and collapses, another one rises and gains absolute power in the world. The Spanish global empire fell, as the US empire rose and took it's place.

Wikipedia; The combined problems arising from the Peninsular War (1807–1814), the loss of most of its colonies in the Americas in the early 19th-century Spanish American wars of independence, and three Carlist Wars (1832–1876) marked the low point of Spanish colonialism.[29] Liberal Spanish elites like Antonio Cánovas del Castillo and Emilio Castelar offered new interpretations of the concept of "empire" to dovetail with Spain's emerging nationalism. Cánovas made clear in an address to the University of Madrid in 1882[30][31] his view of the Spanish nation as based on shared cultural and linguistic elements—on both sides of the Atlantic—that tied Spain's territories together.

Cánovas saw Spanish colonialism as more "benevolent" than that of other European colonial powers. The prevalent opinion in Spain before the war regarded the spreading of "civilization" and Christianity as Spain's main objective and contribution to the New World. The concept of cultural unity bestowed special significance on Cuba, which had been Spanish for almost four hundred years, and was viewed as an integral part of the Spanish nation. The focus on preserving the empire would have negative consequences for Spain's national pride in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War.[32]

"The Spanish–American War (Spanish: Guerra hispano-estadounidense or Guerra hispano-americana; Filipino: Digmaang Espanyol-Amerikano) was an armed conflict between Spain and the United States in 1898. Hostilities began in the aftermath of the internal explosion of USS Maine in Havana Harbor in Cuba, leading to U.S. intervention in the Cuban War of Independence. The war led to the U.S. emerging predominant in the Caribbean region,[14] and resulted in U.S. acquisition of Spain's Pacific possessions. That led to U.S. involvement in the Philippine Revolution and later to the Philippine Insurrection.[15]

The main issue was Cuban independence. Revolts had been occurring for some years in Cuba against Spanish colonial rule. The U.S. backed these revolts upon entering the Spanish–American War. There had been war scares before, as in the Virginius Affair in 1873. But in the late 1890s, American public opinion swayed in support of the rebellion due to reports of concentration camps (death estimates range from 150,000 to 400,000 people) set up to control the populace.[16][17] Yellow journalism exaggerated the atrocities to further increase public fervor, and to sell more papers.[18]

The business community had just recovered from a deep depression and feared that a war would reverse the gains. Accordingly, most business interests lobbied vigorously against going to war.[19] President William McKinley ignored the exaggerated news reporting and sought a peaceful settlement.[20] However, after the United States Navy armored cruiser Maine mysteriously exploded and sank in Havana Harbor on February 15, 1898, political pressures from the Democratic Party pushed McKinley into a war that he had wished to avoid.

On April 20, 1898, McKinley signed a joint Congressional resolution demanding Spanish withdrawal and authorizing the President to use military force to help Cuba gain independence.[21] In response, Spain severed diplomatic relations with the United States on April 21. On the same day, the U.S. Navy began a blockade of Cuba.[22] Both sides declared war; neither had allies.

The 10-week war was fought in both the Caribbean and the Pacific. As U.S. agitators for war well knew,[23] U.S. naval power would prove decisive, allowing expeditionary forces to disembark in Cuba against a Spanish garrison already facing nationwide Cuban insurgent attacks and further wasted by yellow fever.[24] The invaders obtained the surrender of Santiago de Cuba and Manila despite the good performance of some Spanish infantry units, and fierce fighting for positions such as San Juan Hill.[25] Madrid sued for peace after two Spanish squadrons were sunk in the battles of Santiago de Cuba and Manila Bay, and a third, more modern fleet was recalled home to protect the Spanish coasts.[26]

The result was the 1898 Treaty of Paris, negotiated on terms favorable to the U.S. which allowed it temporary control of Cuba and ceded ownership of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippine islands. The cession of the Philippines involved payment of $20 million ($610 million today) to Spain by the U.S. to cover infrastructure owned by Spain.[27]

The defeat and loss of the Spanish Empire's last remnants was a profound shock to Spain's national psyche and provoked a thorough philosophical and artistic reevaluation of Spanish society known as the Generation of '98.[26] The United States gained several island possessions spanning the globe, which provoked rancorous debate over the wisdom of expansionism.[28]

In his War and Empire,[23] Prof. Paul Atwood of the University of Massachusetts (Boston) writes:

The Spanish–American War was fomented on outright lies and trumped up accusations against the intended enemy. ... War fever in the general population never reached a critical temperature until the accidental sinking of the USS Maine was deliberately, and falsely, attributed to Spanish villainy. ... In a cryptic message ... Senator Lodge wrote that 'There may be an explosion any day in Cuba which would settle a great many things. We have got a battleship in the harbor of Havana, and our fleet, which overmatches anything the Spanish have, is masked at the Dry Tortugas.

In his autobiography,[82] Theodore Roosevelt gave his views of the origins of the war:

Our own direct interests were great, because of the Cuban tobacco and sugar, and especially because of Cuba's relation to the projected Isthmian [Panama] Canal....

Cuba fought for it's independence from Spain, and got it with assistance from the US. But then Cuba had to fight and gain independence from the US empire, which it did as well with the help of a Soviet Russia. Now Cuba is viewed as a 'Communist' menace so it has been punished for many generations by a hostile US empire, which does not like any independent sovereign nation that it cannot control, invade, take over or exploit via predatory capitalism.

Many Presidents have tried to invade, commit coups or take over Cuba since that country got it's independence. This is how all empires 'rule'.

Empires since the ancient Greek and Roman empires have used standing armies, billionaires at the top, and debt based wars to invade, commit coups, and take over control of foreign nations with the PROFIT motive and GREED behind it all.

Only the billionaires at the top benefit from all of these never ending global empire based wars that have been going on for thousands of years, while the 99 percent suffer and die for them. The US empire is built on the same model as the Greek and Roman empires, with absolute power concentrating to the top, to a few billionaires who enrich themselves off of the public treasury, while using the standing army and a police state to impose their will on foreign nations as well as local citizens.

BANKERS ARE BEHIND EVERY WAR, BECAUSE NO WAR CAN BE FOUGHT WITHOUT MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MONEY OR DEBT, AND BANKS CONTROL BOTH OF THESE, THE ROCKEFELLER BANK WAS BEHIND THE START OF THIS IMPERIAL WAR TO GET ANOTHER COLONY

The promise of going to war with Spain in Cuba was to free the Cuban people from the oppressive yoke of the Spanish colonial empire. But what actually happened was that the US took not only Cuba, but Guam, the Philippines, Puerto Rico and Hawaii in fairly short order, and made them into 'colonies' controlled and 'owned' by the US.

STANDING ARMIES ARE REQUIRED FOR A FASCIST GOVERNMENT TO EXIST

This pretty little war was also about getting the American public used to a standing army that went around the world, invading and conquering other nations. A global empire needs to be fed with huge profits that are based on taking the resources from other countries. In this case the goal was to take the 'white gold' of sugar from Cuba, by installing US banker controlled companies there, and extracting the highest possible profit from it, for the longest possible time.

Of course, if you have a US military base in your country, you are less likely to resist whatever the US government wants, knowing that many, many democratically elected leaders before you who resisted just got assassinated or overthrown.

WHAT WAS BEHIND THE DECLARATION OF WAR ON SPAIN? A FALSE FLAG ATTACK MANUFACTURED BY THE 1 PERCENT CONTROLLING THE US GOVERNMENT FROM THE SHADOWS

Via Hugo Omar Aghosta Researching the rise of militarism in the U.S., I found this gem:

Though it was never proved the Spanish sunk the Maine in Havana Harbor in 1898 (most historians agree it was spontaneous combustion in a coal storage bin) Secretary of the navy, Theodore Roosevelt intantly declared the sinking "an act of dirty treachery."

William Randolph Heart's New York Journal published drawings illustrating how Spanish saboteurs had attached a mine to the Maine and detonated it from shore. Hearst then sent the artist Fredric Remington to report on the Cuban revolt against Spanish oppression. "There is no war," Remington wrote to his boss, "Request to be recalled." In a famous reply, Hearst cabled, "Please remain. You furnish the pictures, I'll furnish the war."

And so they did. Thanks to Hearst's journalism and that of Joseph Pulitzer in his New York World, the country erupted in righteous anger and patriotic ferver. In April 1898, Congress declared war on Spain.

PROTESTS ERUPT IN SAN JUAN AS OBAMA FORMS UNELECTED CONTROL BOARD TO RUN PUERTO RICO – REPEATING ISLANDS

Democracy Now! reports about the recent protests in Puerto Rico. President Obama has appointed seven members to a federal control board that will run the finances of Puerto Rico’s nearly bankrupt government for at least the next five years and restructure nearly $70 billion in debt. The board is made up of three Democrats and four Republicans who will not only approve any budgets created by the island’s politicians, but also attempt to negotiate with the island’s nearly 20 creditors.

On Wednesday, August 31, 2016, hundreds of protesters in Puerto Rico blocked a street in front of a hotel where bankers and business executives were gathering for a conference hosted by the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce. Meanwhile, a new report from the ReFund America Project has revealed firms like UBS, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Barclays Capital have collected $1.6 billion in underwriting fees from Puerto Rico since 2000 just for refinancing bonds to pay interest and fees on older bonds. Here are excerpts from the program transcripts:

Effectively, ownership of these American 1 percent controlled colonies was switched via force of arms, propaganda and international interventionist warmongering, from Spanish to American bankers, operating behind the scenes. And as you can easily see from the above story, granting freedom, autonomy, democracy and rights to these colonies is not in the cards.

Of course, this American empire requires the installation of 1,000 US military bases all around the world, because a 1 percent controlled empire needs colonies and to take over other countries through fear, threats and intimidation, plus lots of military force, both expressed and implied.

1,000 US foreign military bases accomplishes the goals of the 1 percent and keeps the leaders of those (colonized and domesticated) countries compliant and in control.

THE US CONTROLS MANY US 'TERRITORIES' WHICH ARE NOTHING BUT US 'COLONIES' INSIDE OF A GLOBAL US EMPIRE OF RACIST, WHITE SUPREMACIST COLONIALISM

Bottom line, every war is all about control of profits, debt and money, which is the game that the 1 percent bankers play. The 1 percent win and the 99 percent lose in so many ways every time a war is waged. The 1 percent create fiat money out of thin air, and then charge the public interest on it. In the US, this interest cost that goes to just a few people who own a privately owned for profit Federal Reserve company, is forcing the cutting of welfare, food stamps and other social safety net programs.

It used to be that wars were limited to the gold and silver plus taxes that a king or queen could generate. When that wealth ran out, or taxes got too high and the people revolted, the wars ended. Nowadays, with fiat money created out of thin air, and with nothing backing it up, bankers can warmonger all they want, with no limit, because money is just created out of nothing, with nothing backing it up and taxpayers are willing to be fearmongered into just about anything, via the 1 percent controlled mass media, which also enriches the 1 percent and their political puppets.

"Mr. Chairman, we have in this country one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever known. I refer to the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal reserve banks. The Federal Reserve Board, a Government board, has cheated the Government of the United States out of enough money to pay the national debt. The depredations and the iniquities of the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal reserve banks acting together have cost this country enough money to pay the national debt several times over. This evil institution has impoverished and ruined the people of the United States; has bankrupted itself, and has practically bankrupted our Government. It has done this through defects of the law under which it operates, through the maladministration of that law by the Federal Reserve Board and through the corrupt practices of the moneyed vultures who control it." -- Louis T. McFadden, June 10, 1932
