What does a lose lose industry that is not sustainable look like? Anything that is not sustainable is TERMINAL, by definition.

Natural Laws cannot be violated with impunity, at least not for long.

Any species that violates Natural Law by destroying their own environment is considered TERMINAL, by definition, and quite insane on top it. 

What humans are doing to the planet right now is the equivalent of an insane person drilling holes through the bottom of a ship, plus poisoning the food and water that all passengers are eating or drinking, while it is sailing over the ocean, with no repair patches or poison antidote available. 

What could go wrong? 

 Meanwhile, the corporate owned mass media is reporting that everything is just fine, and the ship is doing better than ever.

The United States has spent more subsidizing fossil fuels in recent years than it has on defense spending, according to a new report from the International Monetary Fund.

The IMF found that direct and indirect subsidies for coal, oil and gas in the U.S. reached $649 billion in 2015. Pentagon spending that same year was $599 billion.

HEALTH COST OF AIR POLLUTION 8 TIMES SPENT ON FUEL SUBSIDIES IN INDIA: REPORT

NEW DELHI: A new report by Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL), an European environmental non-profit has assessed the spending of seven economically powerful countries on fossil fuel subsidies and health costs associated with fossil fuel subsidies. India, according to the report spent as much as $16.9 billion on oil, gas and coal subsidies in 2013 and 2014 but health costs to meet the burden of air pollution linked diseases is eight times the fossil fuel subsidies at 140.7 billion dollars.

The report “Hidden Price Tags” highlights that India can provide 375 million households with solar lamps or train nearly 32,000 extra doctors for rural areas with the fossil fuel subsidy spending of $16.9 billion annually. This is assessed considering that each solar lamp costs about $22.5, and All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS’) recent estimates suggest a cost of Rs 1.7 crore to educate a doctor. The subsidy amount could even fund 24% of the total money needed to implement health care coverage for all Indians, the report suggests.


The study found that oil, natural gas, and coal received $369 billion, $121 billion, and $104 billion (2010 dollars), respectively, or 70% of total energy subsidies over that period.

Multiply US fossil fuel subsidies of 594 BILLION and you get 1,322 BILLION in associated healthcare costs due to the use of fossil fuels in America. 

What could 594 plus 1,322 BILLION dollars buy in terms of transforming the US economy to clean renewable solar, wind, water, tides, geothermal, which don't have a healthcare penalty attached to them? 

FOSSIL FUEL AND NUCLEAR MONOPOLIES DO NOT INCLUDE SOCIETAL COSTS OF POLLUTION IN THEIR ESTIMATES FOR COSTS OF THEIR ENERGY, WHICH CAN AMOUNT TO SEVERAL CENTS PER KWHR, UP TO DOZENS OF CENTS PER KWHR

In the end, I didn’t get answers from the reporters, but I found that the NJ.com coverage of a solar support scheme didn’t include any discussion or figures of findings regarding the societal costs of pollution, which have been found by various research to be anywhere from several cents to dozens of cents per kWh. There was also no discussion of historical energy subsidies, even though historical fossil fuel subsidies have dwarfed clean energy subsidies, and they continue to be in the trillions globally.

The hope is that if we ignore what’s unraveling, it will magically go away. But that’s not how reality works.

In the political realm, the insanity of accusing Democratic candidates of being “Russian agents” matches the hysterical destructiveness of the McCarthy era in the 1950s.

It all starts with economic decay, so let’s look at some charts. Here’s a chart of income inequality which helps drive wealth inequality.

Facebook Hires Koch-Funded Climate Deniers for ‘Fact-Checking’ – EcoWatch
In what can only be described as verging on the bizarre, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has given the contract to fight fake news to an organization that pushes fake news on climate change.

According to reports in Think Progress and Grist, Facebook has announced that it was teaming up with CheckYourFact.com, which is an offshoot of the anti-science media site, The Daily Caller.

The CheckYourFact website brags that: “Our mission is a non-partisan one. We’re loyal to neither people nor parties — only the truth. And while the fact-checking industry continues to grow, there are still countless assertions that go unchecked. We exist to fill in the gaps.”

In fact, the opposite seems to be true. As Think Progress outlines:

The Daily Caller, which has published misinformation about climate science for years, was co-founded by the science-denying Fox News host Tucker Carlson and is backed by major conservative donors, including Charles and David Koch, the billionaire fossil fuel barons who are the single biggest funders of climate science misinformation.
