Warmer air also holds more moisture, so storms can dump more rain, particularly when they stall as Dorian did.

Hurricane Dorian’s 185 mph sustained winds tied with Hurricanes Gilbert (1988) and Wilma (2005) for the second-strongest maximum sustained winds in the Atlantic basin since 1950 and one of the strongest at landfall, according to Phil Klotzbach, a hurricane expert and research scientist at Colorado State University’s Department of Atmospheric Science.

Walter Dominguez Hurricane Dorian is tied with the strongest hurricane in the Atlantic in recorded history. Unprecedented hurricane winds are bearing down now on the Bahamas. Sustained winds above 180 mph with gusts up to 220 mph.

Rising global temperatures also influence storms in other ways: A warmer atmosphere holds more moisture, which means hurricanes can bring more rain, and warmer oceans provide additional energy that can make them stronger.

Hurricane Harvey dumped 60 inches of rain on parts of Texas in 2017 and stalled over the Houston area for days. Hurricane Florence stalled in 2018, flooding parts of coastal North Carolina. Kossin said Hurricane Sandy, in 2012, also took an unusual path that may have been affected by shifting global wind patterns, turning west and slamming into New Jersey instead of being carried eastward, out to sea and away from land, by prevailing westerly winds.

The state of Florida is about 500 miles distance vertically, and this mega hurricane is larger than that from edge to edge.

This is beyond any hurricane I have ever experienced, and I have been through MANY hurricanes..

This is devastation beyond any I have ever seen..

WHAT IS A CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE?

Catastrophic damage will occur People, livestock, and pets are at very high risk of injury or death from flying or falling debris, even if indoors in mobile homes or framed homes. Almost complete destruction of all mobile homes will occur, regardless of age or construction. A high percentage of frame homes will be destroyed, with total roof failure and wall collapse. 

Extensive damage to roof covers, windows, and doors will occur. Large amounts of windborne debris will be lofted into the air. Nearly all commercial signage, fences, and canopies will be destroyed. Nearly all trees will be snapped or uprooted and power poles downed. Fallen trees and power poles will isolate residential areas. Power outages will last for weeks to possibly months. 

Long-term water shortages will increase human suffering. Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months. Hurricane Andrew (1992) is an example of a hurricane that brought Category 5 winds and impacts to coastal portions of Cutler Ridge, Florida with Category 4 conditions experienced elsewhere in south Miami-Dade County.

STORM SURGE THAT GOES ALONG WITH A CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE VARIES GREATLY DEPENDING ON LOCAL FACTORS

Because storm surge induced flooding has killed more people in the United States in hurricanes than all other hurricane-related threats (freshwater flooding, winds, and tornadoes) combined since 19003 , the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is working to enhance the analysis and prediction of storm surge. Direct estimates of inundation are being communicated in the NHC’s Public Advisories and in the Weather Forecast Office’s Hurricane Local Statements. New ways of communicating the threat have also been developed. NHC’s probabilistic storm surge product, which provides the likelihood of storm surge values from 2 through 25 feet, became operational in 2009, and the NWS’s Meteorological Development Laboratory is providing experimental, probabilistic storm surge exceedance products for 2010. In addition, coastal WFOs will provide experimental Tropical Cyclone Impacts Graphics in 2010; these include a qualitative graphic on the expected storm surge impacts. Finally, the NWS is exploring the possibility of issuing explicit Storm Surge Warnings, and such warnings could be implemented in the next couple of years. In all of these efforts, the NWS is working to provide specific and quantitative information to support decision-making at the local level. 

For example, if 2008’s Hurricane Ike had made landfall in Palm Beach, Florida, the resulting storm surge would have been only 8’, rather than the 20’ that occurred where Ike actually made landfall on the upper Texas coast. These greatly differing surge impacts arise from differences in the local bathymetry (the shallow Gulf waters off of Texas enhance storm surge while the deep ocean depths off of southeastern Florida inhibit surge). The proposed storm surge scales that consider storm size do not consider these local factors that play a crucial role in determining actual surge impacts.

HURRICANE IRMA: CLIMATE CHANGE DENIERS’ CHICKENS COME HOME TO ROOST

Limbaugh is among friends in Florida, which is America’s number one climate change denier state from the top on down. In an interview with the Tampa Bay Times when he was running for governor, Rick Scott was asked if he believes in global warming. Scott replied: “No. I have not been convinced.”

Asked what it would take to persuade him: “Something more convincing than what I’ve read”.

Following his election as Governor of Florida, Scott has presided over business-as-usual for the fossil fuel industry and has hindered all efforts at utilising renewable energy. Investor-owned utilities who make vast profits from burning oil and gas are in league with front groups like the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) to crush renewables in Florida. ALEC operates all over the U.S. and is massively funded by the Koch brothers.

Each of the brothers is worth more than $40 billion. Their company, Koch Industries, is the second largest private business in the U.S. and is right up there with ExxonMobil and American Electric Power in the list of top polluters in the country.

Trump had two of his homes/resorts damaged due to Hurricane Irma, and could not use either of them, so he had to go North instead of South to go golfing. Trump does not believe in global warming or climate change either.  His 'advisor' Ann Coulter, also dismisses huge hurricanes as 'boring' news, which is another way of calling hurricanes and global warming climate changes 'fake news'.

SUMMARY


Meanwhile, as global warming heats up the oceans, which then creates and feeds MULTIPLE HURRICANES AT A TIME, (shown below) the negative impacts of climate change also accelerate and increase in terms of total damages and devastation caused. 

In years past, it was ordinary and average to have no hurricanes for several years, and then have maybe one during the hurricane season. Now it is the norm to have multiple hurricanes forming all at the same time, and there are no more years without hurricanes. The hurricanes that are forming are much larger, stay at higher wind speeds for much longer, and cause much more destruction when they do hit, increasing the dollar damages. This trend will continue to accelerate until it is impossible to repair all of the damage, because there will not be enough money in the world to cover all of the losses, at the rate it is being caused. 

In addition, larger storms will eventually cause the melt down of one or more nuclear power plants, which will only accelerate the suffering and death toll, plus make thousands of square miles of land into an exclusion zone. 


If you are in an area affected by a natural disaster, expect to be COMPLETELY on your own, without power, water or electricity, for up to 2 WEEKS. It may take  up to 2 weeks for a disaster response plan and team to be set up and then come into an area after it is devastated. 

A 3 or 4 day emergency kit is the MINIMUM, but if possible, create an emergency plan and kit that can last for 2 weeks for your family or group.

What happens when the emergency water runs out, water faucets are not working, and no rescue is in sight?

Courts have already used science to influence climate policies around the world. For example, in 2007, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions as a form of air pollution, based on evidence that such emissions were changing Earth’s climate. In 2015, a court in the Netherlands ruled that the Dutch government must adopt stricter goals to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions, and a Pakistani farmer successfully sued his government for failing to implement its own climate policy framework, leading to the creation of a new court-ordered climate change commission in Pakistan. Other significant cases are still in progress, including one by a group of American youths who are suing the U.S. government on the grounds that U.S. climate policies violate their rights to life, liberty and property.

Climate science is increasingly making its way into lower profile cases as well, according to an analysis published last week in the journal Science. The researchers looked at more than 800 U.S. cases involving climate change or coal-fired power plants between 1990 and 2016, and found a dramatic rise in both the number of climate cases and the proportion that relied on scientific evidence, according to first author Sabrina McCormick, a sociologist at George Washington University in Washington. McCormick and her co-authors reported no conflicts of interest with respect to the new research.
