Many people believe that government will protect them and that government agencies are pure, noble, independent and that they always do a good job of protecting the public. What you will find out in this article is that the collusion and corrupting influence of industry and the power of politicians who have their arms twisted around by nuclear lobbyists means that the opposite effect is often achieved, inside the NRC, but also other government agencies. Bottom line, the public is being 'frozen out' of the nuclear regulatory and safety process. The danger posed by nuclear energy is severe, as just one mega nuclear accident involving multiple reactors and their spent fuel pools can result in the extinction of all life on the planet.

"N.R.C.’s regulations do not allow a drop of radioactively contaminated water to leave Indian Point except via monitored and controlled pathways. Even if the monitoring wells constituted a monitored pathway (which they don’t despite the name), it’s not a controlled pathway. Thus, N.R.C.’s regulations are being violated. But N.R.C. does not enforce those regulations. N.R.C. could impose a fine of $130,000 per day. That would give Entergy ample incentive to quickly find the leak (and stop the fine tally) and to implement steps to prevent future leaks (and future fines). But nooooo. The N.R.C. instead invoked the “no blood, no foul” rule and becomes Entergy’s ally in allowing ongoing leaks (and ongoing crimes.)"

But the NRC goes further than that. They actively 'control' the information going out, so that no bad news surfaces to warn the public about radiation levels that may be harmful. After 3/11, radiation labs were called by the NRC and told to stand down, and not test for radiation from Fukushima. Is that protecting the public from harm?

She even suggested that the NRC may be “knowingly allowing plants to operate with safety deficiencies."

The disclaimer at the end regarding *low level damage* almost always says something like *More studies need to be done* *we don't have enough long term data on effects*.

When I first discovered ENENEWS and was considering purchasing a Geiger counter, I scoured many worldwide NPP and gov sites to see what their equipment looked like, how they measured and how they interpreted data or described effects on their public pages. It was eye opening to realize most official statements also admitted they needed further studies and knowledge to project longer low level exposure effects. I believe it would be helpful to quote and link those disclaimers in any comments we make to the outside world."

The fact that the NRC would even CONSIDER a SARI proposal that is based on hormesis theory shows how out of touch they are with community safety concerns.

This is CONFIRMED. Also, Viktoria was very cautious about discussing radiation releases. You can easily detect she is nervous, and says several contradictory things in rapid succession. Original phone call lasted 22 minutes, but she was so redundant in her explanations, about basically everything, that I had to edit the call for time. It was almost painful to listen to her textbook nuclear propaganda over and over again.

NRC BURIES FUKUSHIMA RADIATION DATA AND OUSTS ONLY NRC MEMBER TRYING TO PROTECT PUBLIC


Many commission members wanted to 'bury' the results and information about release of radiation from Fukushima.

Issa and the four commissioners framed the dispute as personal and managerial, but emails released by Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) show a political and ideological battle underway over post-Fukushima safety standards."

The only person on the NRC board who stood for the public, full disclosure and community health was ousted in a political 'hit', by a combination of bought off politicians, the nuclear industry and the rest of the pro nuclear NRC commission members.

So why would there by a political battle between those in favor of health, safety and environmental purity and those who are against it? Could it be that there is a lot of money at stake? Nuclear power plants are a money pit, with TRILLIONS of dollars in government subsidies, loan guarantees and other giveaways and perks on the line. 

What would an individual or small group of power hungry and greedy individuals do to get their hands on a Billion Dollars? Would a community be sacrificed? Would your children be thrown on the alter of radiation to be radiated? If a human life is only worth $85 in Mexico, where assassinations are any everyday thing in the failed drug war, what is a human life worth or a community for that matter, when BILLIONS are on the table?

Bottom line, there is LOTS of money on the table for the taking, if only corporations can twist enough arms of the politicians and community leaders, while ignoring safety concerns and radiation hazards.. The NRC is ignoring all lessons that could have been learned from the Fukushima mega nuclear disaster. As of 2014, the NRC denied a petition to make modest safety improvements around nuclear power plants, despite huge public pressure.

Instead of making the public a little bit safer in case of a nuclear emergency, the NRC did the exact opposite...

In other words, the nuclear industry is a like an addict and their demand is; give us taxpayer money, NOW. They DEMAND entitlement corporate welfare money up front in order to build these nuclear plants. The only nuclear power plants to be built in many years were only possible with BILLIONS in taxpayer funding and loan guarantees, because investors will not TOUCH nuclear power plants with a 1,000 yard long pole.. The nuclear industry KNOWS that their radioactive garbage is way too risky and no sane investor will touch it, and that is why taxpayer guarantees are needed. 

NUCLEAR RUBBERSTAMP COMMISSION


The solution to risky, dangerous and toxic nuclear power plants and ineffective, useless regulators is to abolish the Nuclear Rubberstamp Commission and shut down every nuclear power plant in the U.S. These plants provide just 20 percent of our electricity and this could be substituted for with electricity generated by safe, clean, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind — without the loss of any lives. 

The NRC so called 'regulators' are in the pocket of the nuclear industry and follow their orders, just like the IAEA, and WHO. So if you combine worthless regulators, no investors willing to put their money into it at any term or price, and a plant that can bankrupt a nation, why are we considering these nuclear monsters at all?

NRC ACTS LIKE IT IS OWNED BY NUCLEAR INDUSTRY


Bottom line, it seems as if the NRC is owned by the nuke industry. The politicians are definitely owned by the nuke industry due to campaign bribes (gifts). On top of that, not only is the public being frozen out, the Inspector General office within the NRC is also completely ineffective and useless as well. When was the last time you heard of the this government official taking any action in regards to the NRC?

FRAUD AND DECEPTION IN NUCLEAR INDUSTRY IS RAMPANT AND SYSTEMIC


Bottom line, the NRC is in the pocket and belongs to the nuclear companies. The public and community concerns are of little note, as seen by the behaviour and attitude provided above. The NRC knows who the boss is, because they know where they get their money from... Did you know that the NRC "receives 90% of its funds from nuclear companies that operate reactors."

"Nuclear Power Causes Cancer: What Industry Doesn't Want You To Know"

If your community has a nuclear plant nearby, here is what you can expect... promises of jobs and help for community projects. But after they are there, the jobs will be not as promised, and the consequences will start showing up, if you are looking for them. Kids will start getting sicker in higher numbers and birth problem rates will go up. The closer families live to a reactor, the worse the problems will be. 

When an accident happens, no information will be provided, and no safety measures will be taken. The public will be on their own, left in the dark, like a bunch of mushrooms in a basement. In case of a severe accident, odds are VERY high that the whole thing will be covered up until it is too late and everyone in town is radiated and contaminated. 

If an evacuation is 'suggested' at some point down the road, it will be much too late, too few and with a good chance that where people are directed to will be even worse in terms of radiation than where they came from. This is what happened at Chernobyl, Fukushima, Three Mile Island and other accidents where it was even worse. The Santa Susana nuclear plant in Los Angeles melted down and NO ONE was told about it, even up to today. 

After the accident happens, the town, city, state and country will be asked to pony up and clean up the invisible toxic radioactive mess with taxpayer dollars. The company will either get bailed out and/or the top officials will disappear like a cockroach going into a crack in the wall, and leave the 15,000 square mile or larger nuclear devastation zone for the bankrupt country to figure out.

THE COST OF A NUCLEAR DISASTER IS A BANKRUPT NATION AND THOUSANDS OF SQUARE MILES LEFT AS AN EXCLUSION ZONE


No one will be held accountable. No one will go to jail, despite a million people eventually dying and untold millions suffering horrible genetic diseases, (over 200 of them) and financial losses in the TRILLIONS of Dollars. 

It will take untold numbers of generations of people to weather this disaster. It will take up to a million years for the radiation to disappear. There is no answer or cleaning up this mess, despite numerous promises and false claims from the nuclear industry to the contrary, if only you give them enough taxpayer money.

After the inevitable accident, the pro nuclear apologists will promise that the Iodine and Cesium radiation will disappear very quickly, in 7 days to 30 years at the most. They pretend that this is all that comes out of a nuclear reactor, and will result in no harm to anyone. However, they will NEVER talk about the hundreds of other things coming out of Pandora's Box, nor will they focus on the long lived radioactive elements and isotopes that are also in the mixture.

The nuclear regulator watchdog will say it was an unavoidable accident, with no consequences for the operator. The regulator will promise that things will work out with the rest of the nuclear plants, recycling facilities, mines, depleted uranium facilities, etc,, and the public/politicians should extend their licenses to operate for another 50 or 100 years, despite the fact that these nuclear plants are worn out, dangerous hulks, ready to blow at any moment after catastrophic failure of worn out parts that do not get replaced. 

But never you mind these warnings and dark facts. Just vote in the politicians that support nuclear power 'jobs' and a new library, just like voters supported the Mafia when they promised jobs and protection to the citizens being shaken down. There is a price and consequences for dealing with death. Your town, state or nation will EVENTUALLY pay the price if not one way, then another. The price will be paid over countless lifetimes, with blood and treasure as well. Sell your soul, and you reap the whirlwind. 

Many people that used to support nuclear power have woken up from the spider web fairy tales that the nuclear spiders spin. It is just a matter of time until humanity either wakes up from the nightmare, or dies from a huge accident that will inevitably happen at some point in the future.

In the above video, the take away is that the NRC blames the public for the increased price of nuclear plants, thus making them economically prohibitive. But the real reasons have nothing to do with public opposition, and more about basic financial problems with the nuclear energy model.

But as a result of this 'conclusion', the NRC has made it harder for the public to participate in the approval process, because their position is that the public is 'in the way' and deserves the blame for the high cost of nuclear power.

Of course, this is all a fairy tale and no one will believe it, because it is all fiction, right? It is just too preposterous and insane. Tokyo Electric would have you believe that they’re the victim of an unimaginable tsunami that rose up from the ocean and destroyed the plant. But in fact, they are the perpetrators of this disaster. They knew in 1965 that a tsunami this size or even bigger could rise up and they chose to keep the tsunami walls short to save money. This same sense of skewed priorities occurred while the disaster was occurring. Tokyo Electric underestimated the releases; they underestimated the exposure to people; they underestimated the time to recover and the cost to recover. Does that mean that Tokyo Electric is incompetent? I don’t think so. I’ve seen this same behavior occur at Three Mile Island, at Chernobyl and now at Fukushima. The response of a bureaucracy in a disaster like Fukushima is to save the bureaucracy and to save nuclear power. Nuclear power means a lot more to the bureaucrats than the health and safety of the people that they’re supposed to be protecting. Why is this? I’m reminded of the Watergate movie with the famous quote, “Follow the money.” It will happen again because this mentality infuses the nuclear industry. Costs and the success of nuclear power are more important than the health and safety of the public.

On top of that, why does this dirty, polluting, lying and deceptive industry deserve taxpayer corporate welfare payments just to keep them in business?

The nuclear industry also demands taxpayer corporate welfare bailouts after they are operating and have accidents that they are at fault for. There is no exception to this 'rule'. The top 1% get a golden parachute, and the taxpayers are then on the hook for decommissioning or nuclear accident cleanup. The costs for either go on for thousands to millions of years. 

And these plants are completely useless and worthless, because there are clean, no risk alternatives where investors ARE putting their money in. The clean, green alternatives exist and are growing in the double digits. Nuclear is actually much more expensive than ANY renewable energy source, if one factors in decommissioning alone. We are still ignoring labor costs, healthcare costs of the whole fuel cycle, storage costs and the energy needed to transform waste into glass cubes or cement. If one factors in accident cleanup costs on top of all of this, it makes nuclear power look like a dog infected with rabies. No one would want it, at ANY price or with any bribe.
