Humanity Using 1 Cubic Mile Of Oil Each Year With No Regard For 45+ Negative Tipping Points, 500 Billion/Yr Externality Costs - Fossil Fuel And Nuclear Power Industry Both Huge Financial Bubbles, Destroying Living Web Of Life - Fracking Is Financial Disaster For Investors And Planet

FRACKING IS A FINANCIAL DISASTER HEADED FOR A GLOBAL ECONOMIC MELTDOWN AND TRAINWRECK

Fracking “Revolution” Disaster for Investors as Bankruptcies Continue | The Most Revolutionary Act
“The shale gas revolution has frankly been an unmitigated disaster for any buy-and-hold investor in the shale gas industry with very few limited exceptions,” Schlotterbeck, who left the helm of EQT last year, continued. “In fact, I’m not aware of another case of a disruptive technological change that has done so much harm to the industry that created the change.”

“While hundreds of billions of dollars of benefits have accrued to hundreds of millions of people, the amount of shareholder value destruction registers in the hundreds of billions of dollars,” he said. “The industry is self-destructive.” [emphasis added]…

“The technological advancements developed by the industry have been the weapon of its own suicide,” Schlotterbeck added, referring to the financial impacts of shale gas drilling on shale gas drillers. “And unfortunately, the industry still has not fully realized how it’s killing itself. Since 2015, there’s been 172 E&P company bankruptcies involving nearly a hundred billion dollars of debt.”

THE US HAS TURNED INTO A FREAK SHOW, SHOWING OFF THE WEIRDEST, MOST IGNORANT AND MOST EXTREME RACIST PLUS GLOBAL WARMING DENIALIST SIDE OF 1 PERCENT CONTROLLED CORPORATE AMERICA

As Trump forces the US into a global warming denial, and promotes dead fossil fuels plus even more dead and toxic radioactive heavy metal spewing nuclear, the world watches with utter amazement.

COUNTERPUNCH: "This a Freak Show, Not a Democracy (Thanks, Founders)
“Coal is back,” the MOHM announced to great cheers. It was another gross statement of his and is fellow Republicans’ chilling, eco-exterminist commitment to burning every last fossil fuel that can be found in North America – a death-knell for the species.

A “blue wave” in the upcoming mid-term elections, the MOHM intoned, “means crime…a red wave means safety and strength.” If those dastardly leftist Democrats win, the MOHM warned, “we’ll have open borders and vicious predators will run over us.”

The steady drift to the ever-more menacing right was hardly invented by Trump. The wealthy Few have been quietly indifferent to the steady rise of “neoliberal fascism” in and under both reigning political organizations – giant plutocratic fundraising tools I hesitate to call political parties anymore.

As fascism grows and rises, so does the power and control of government by huge monopolistic corporations, like the fossil fuel, coal, and nuclear corporations.

The 1 percent love Trump, because everything he does, he does for them, and for himself, as a member of the 1 percent 'club'. He pretends and talks like a populist, but acts for the 1 percent.

EXTERNALITIES COST 500 BILLION BUT FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY ONLY MAKES 300 BILLION PER YEAR, MAKING IT A MONEY LOSING INDUSTRY IF THEY HAD TO PAY FOR ALL OF THE DAMAGE THEY CAUSE

Thomas Clark That would be a very good idea, except for the fact that there is no such thing as a profitable North American fossil fuels industry. The cost of ONLY US coal's externalities, which are the costs of pollution covered by taxpayers, and things like additional health-care costs caused by pollution that both taxpayers and patients pay for, among other externalized costs (NOT counting ANY of the hidden costs of other forms of fossil fuels, also NOT including subsidies the fossil fuel industry receives) to the US taxpayer amounts to at least $300 billion USD and up to over $500 billion USD each year.

Meanwhile, ALL public companies in North America involved in extracting, transporting, refining, distributing and trading in ALL forms of fossil fuels in the US AND Canada, including the petrochemical sector, post combined “profits" of less than $300 billion annually on average. At this point no matter what happens going forward We the People are going to be stuck with the bill.

NUCLEAR AND FOSSIL FUEL COMPANY MONOPOLIES ARE WAGING A WAR ON RENEWABLE ENERGY AND ON HUMANITY'S FUTURE, THEY ARE BOTH VULNERABLE DUE TO BILLIONS IN DEBT/STRANDED ASSETS

Fossil fuel and nuclear energy companies have BILLIONS in stranded assets, but want to keep this hidden, secret and deny this even exists.

War On Our Future Fossil fuel companies are some of the richest and most powerful in the world...on paper. But they have a huge problem coming down the pipeline, one that could render them worthless. #YEARSproject

This same principle applies to the nuclear industry. Banks and investment companies are holding HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS, if not TRILLIONS in financial paper that can only continue to exist if fossil fuel and nuclear energy companies continue to make a profit, which is not possible as renewables disrupt this market and cause the extinction of both nuclear energy and eventually also fossil fueled energy companies, starting with coal fired energy plants.

ALL BUBBLES MUST POP EVENTUALLY; ANYTHING NOT SUSTAINABLE IS TERMINAL

What the fossil fuel and nuclear monopolies are hiding is that they have caused an extinction level event, and it is happening NOW. The global collapse and destruction of the living web of life is already happening NOW. The extinction of all life on the planet has begun and the 45 plus tipping points have all been triggered and are now accelerating.

The collapsing oil prices of 2016 are still collapsing in on the shale oil and tar sands industry, because they were at break even or losing money when oil was at double the price it is today.

Oil Industry can self combust and blow it all

The junk bonds issues for shale oil companies are going into default, as well as the loans issued on top of those bonds. This will threaten banks that loaned money to shale oil companies, based on junk bonds.

The bubble collapsed on oil futures, and financial blood is running in the streets. Banks and investment houses that bet on constantly increasing oil prices, shale oil and tar sands will also start failing and collapsing in on themselves This could be the spark that blows up the world, financially speaking.

After tar sands, shale oil is another even dirtier source of oil. Will the oil addict be willing to inject dirtier and dirtier oil drugs?

Map of shale oil deposits

Like an addict drawing up the last spilled dregs of drugs from a dirty mud puddle to inject it, humanity is addicted to oil and will pay any price, just to get another 'hit'.

POLITICIANS ARE WILLING TO SENTENCE HUMANITY TO GLOBAL ECOCIDE AND SUICIDE, ALL FOR THE SAME OF SELFISH EGO BASED GREED AND DELUSIONAL POWER

Most people addicted to GREED and POWER, will even commit planetary suicide, to get that last drop of dirty oil into the 'black snake' oil pipeline 'veins'. Like venon from a poison snake, humanity is injecting poison directly into their bodies, plants, animals, water and air, thinking that somehow they can avoid the certain death that follows from breathing in poison, eating poison, and spreading poison all over the planet.

Quick, it's time to get another 'hit' from your local dealer. Fill up the tank with black snake poisonous toxic fossil fuel products.

OIL INDUSTRY DEATH SPIRAL WILL HAPPEN LONG TERM, AS ELECTRIC CARS AND OTHER ELECTRIC VEHICLES DISRUPT AND THEN BREAK THE CARBON FUEL ADDICTION, WHEN WILL THE OIL PRICE COLLAPSE HAPPEN, OR HAS IT ALREADY BEGUN?

Someone once said that financial markets respond to only two factors — fear and greed. In February, Bloomberg warned readers that the next collapse of oil prices will occur within 10 years, maybe sooner, due to an explosion of electric cars on the road. In a new study released this week, Fitch Ratings, one of the three largest financial rating services in the world, claims that grid scale battery storage could exert negative pressure on utility industry stocks. Corporate stocks and bonds issued by utility and automotive companies represent one quarter of all corporate debt in the world — $3.4trillion, to be exact.

The Bloomberg team presents its findings in the chart below. It shows when the oil collapse is expected assuming three different scenarios for the growth of electric cars. The sell off could begin as early as 2013 or as late at 2028. No one can predict the future, but Bloomberg offers this advice: “One thing is certain: Whenever the oil crash comes, it will be only the beginning. Every year that follows will bring more electric cars to the road, and less demand for oil. Someone will be left holding the barrel.”

What you can do to help accelerate the death of the carbon fuel industry; divest your portfolio of all carbon fuel related stocks and bonds and move them into renewable energy investments, such as solar, wind, tides, etc.

Another thing you can do is to invest in a new electric vehicle either via a lease or purchase. Check with your local dealers for special deals and rebates, as well as free electric power for that vehicle.

CHENEY PREDICTED OIL WOULD RUN OUT UNLESS MIDDLE EAST INCREASED OUTPUT

Producing oil is obviously a self-depleting activity. Every year you’ve got to find and develop reserves equal to your output just to stand still, just to stay even. . . . By some estimates there will be an average of two per cent annual growth in global oil demand over the years ahead along with conservatively a three per cent natural decline in production from existing reserves.  So where is the oil going to come from? . . . The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world’s oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize ultimately lies.”

The only reason that peak oil has not been reached yet, is that expensive to process, dirty, toxic oil sands, oil shale, and very hard to reach, very dangerous, very expensive to reach deep water oil reserves are now being tapped, but this is a last stand desperate act, by an addict. The price to get to this oil is almost equal to the potential profit coming out of it, and at some point, it will be a lose, lose scenario.

OIL, WARS FOR FOSSIL FUEL PROFIT, FAKE DEMOCRACY, FAKE LEADERS, COLONIZATION AND MILITARIZATION OF POLICE

Of course, on the way to the complete death of the planet and all life on it, there is a dirty, toxic, poisonous profit to be made from selling this poison. And there are no lack of fake leaders who are willing to warmonger and deal in death, suffering, and chaos.

THE BLACK SNAKE IS DYING AND BLEEDING OUT GLOBALLY, HOW MANY INVESTORS AND LIVING CREATURES WILL IT HARM AND/OR KILL BEFORE IT DIES COMPLETELY?

The oil industry is known among indigenous people as the 'black snake'. The term refers to oil pipelines specifically.

Black Snake Bleeding Out: How DAPL Is Duping Investors
After reaching a peak of over 1 million barrels in December 2014, the Bakken oil field has been in decline. In fact, per a report released by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) and the Sightline Institute last month, Bakken oil output has plunged 20 percent since last year, and by more than 25 percent since that 2014 peak.

The downward spiral is not just limited to the Bakken. The United States continues to experience a sharp decline in the amount of oil produced each month. Last month the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that domestic crude supplies fell by 2.4 million barrels, which is larger than the 2.2 million barrel drop reported by American Petroleum Institute (API)—a decline that was anticipated to be 1.7 million.

The Bakken Peak has sounded an alarm throughout the local oil and gas industry, which can be heard from construction workers to executives to everyone in between. For instance, the three largest Bakken drillers have experienced a precipitous collapse in revenue of 70 percent since 2014. According to the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources, oil drillers were adding roughly 157 new producing wells per month during the Bakken peak. In 2016, they were averaging only 44 per month. And the number of oil rigs is not the only thing dropping faster than Alex Rodriguez’s 2016 batting average: Moody’s and S&P have both downgraded the credit ratings for each of those top three Bakken drillers.

NUCLEAR POWER IS ALSO IN A SELF DESTRUCT MODE

Nuclear power is also in a money losing, self destruct mode, because it is the most expensive energy source in the world at this point. So in an odd coincidence, the cheap price of oil and the expensive price of nuclear power is conspiring to drive them both out of the market and replace them with renewables, which have a dependable, stable, and price dropping future. All renewables are dropping in price over time, as they industry matures.

HUGE CENTRAL BANKS FINANCE THESE PLANET DESTROYING MONOPOLIES, AND THERE ARE ONLY 13 FAMILIES HIDING IN THE SHADOWS ON TOP OF THESE CORPORATIONS

Chris Kirckof - Thirteen Ruling Families and the federal reserve
Also, called the thirteen ancient bloodlines and consist of the following: Astor, Bundy, Collins, DuPont, Freeman, Kennedy, Li, Onassis, Reynolds, Rockefeller, Rothschild, Russell, and Van Duyn. They have always ruled this world, and they still do. One of the most infamous families on this list is the Rothschild family, which holds about 80% of the world’s total wealth. They are so rich that this one family has the ability to literally feed, cloth, and settle every man, woman, and child on the planet if they wanted to. Who owns the federal reserve? The Rothschilds...

The first attempt of a central bank only lasted 20 years, and we shut it down. The bankers tried again, this time against President Andrew Jackson. Jackson was ruthless, and did not let the bankers win during his lifetime at all. He was quoted for saying: “The bold effort the present (central) bank had made to control the government ... are but premonitions of the fate that await the American people should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it.”

He actually survived an assignation (certainly a hired assassin from the “central bankers”) and then went on to defeat the bank in 1836. While lying on his death bed, he was asked what the greatest accomplishment in his life was… he responded, "I killed the bank"

Those were his last words. Now, with real money backed by real gold, our country experienced the greatest boom in any nation’s history. But the bankers never gave up. They wanted more power and wealth, and refused to stop until they got just that. So in the November of 1910, a secret meeting was held in the estate of J.P. Morgan (a club hotel for the extremely wealthy) on Jekyll Island, off the coast of Georgia (you might recognize this island in the ending scene of X-Men: First Class). This was following the Panic of 1907, where the New York Stock Exchange (now called the American Stock Exchange) fell almost 50% from its peak the previous year.

Banking reform became a major issue in the United States. Senator Nelson W. Aldrich, chairman of the National Monetary Commission, went to Europe for almost two years to study that continent’s banking systems. Can you begin to smell the trouble?

Upon his return, he brought together the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury Department, A. Piatt Andrew, and five of the country’s leading financiers: Frank Vanderlip (president of the National City Bank of New York), Henry P. Davison (senior partner of J.P. Morgan Company), Charles D. Norton (president of the Morgan-dominated First Nation Bank of New York), Benjamin Strong (representing J.P. Morgan), and Paul Warburg (a naturalized German representing Kuhn, Loeb & Co. which was a partnership between John M. Schiff and Harvey M. Krueger dealing with investment banking/management and finance) to discuss the monetary policy and the banking system, which ultimately lead to the creation of the Federal Reserve.

Along with the creation of personal income tax, the goal was to once again to try and create a centralization of banking control and a bottomless source of credit for the U.S. Congress… all so that these “elite few” could gain their endless profit and control above the laws.

Together they represented about one fourth of the world’s wealth at the time. That night, they boarded a train in complete secrecy in Hoboken, New Jersey headed to Jekyll Island. They dropped their last names and instead used either their first names or even code names, so no one would discover who they all were. Their excuse for all riding this train together was to go on a duck hunting trip on Jekyll Island.

Also, it’s kept secret that these members were in attendance as well: J.D. Rockefeller (richest man in America at the time) Thomas Lamont (member of J.P. Morgan Company, and the U.S. Treasury’s advisor to the American Peace Delegation in Paris… negotiators of the Versailles Treaty that ended WWI) and Nathan Mayer Rothschild (this is the “original” Nathan Rothschild’s grandson, who he was named after) or Walter Rothschild (the great grandson). In total, these are the 10 secret members that attended this meeting.

As these people argued who would run the new central bank, Rothschild explained to them that no one is going to run the bank. In the past the idea of a central bank kept failing because of their openness. This time they would kept their real motive a secret and get the people to believe that they own the bank (they did this by naming their private bank the “Federal Reserve”). The method to actually make all of this work was to first create panic, (i.e. the great depression) and to then show the public this (central banking system) as their only solution.

With their men in office and perfect timing, the Rothschild family was finally able to pull this off and gain control of America’s economy. They struck on December 23, 1913… only one month after their secret meeting. They had their newly elected accomplish, President Woodrow Wilson, sign their treasonous act (the Federal Reserve Act and the 16th Amendment for the I.R.S. to be established). He also agreed to sign before he was even elected. And yes, that’s right the I.R.S. didn’t always exist and just serves as the Federal Reserve’s “security” to make sure that every citizen pays what they “owe” to them. Now you know the type of people that created the I.R.S. and what it’s really for. The “Fed” now has the exclusive power to print U.S. money, which they then loan to our banks at interest, putting immediate debt on our own money.

I wonder why we’re never taught about the history of our country’s most powerful financial institution. Well, maybe I can take a guess. See most people have no clue about this, but now you do. Oh and that’s not even all of it, this “system” facilitated the U.S. government’s ability to inflame the nation’s citizens for the purpose of supporting the European war of 1914-1918 (World War I). See, warfare provides a source of immense borrowing and provides banking corporations with huge profits in the form of interest income. Several of these same “wall street banks” financed Adolph Hitler two decades later as well.

And so today, the House of Rothschild dominates the world financial machine, along with the house of Morgan, Rockefeller, Kuhn-Loeb, Goldman-Sachs, DuPont, Citi Bank, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, and others. They consolidate bigger and bigger banks, while printing more and more money (note: it’s not so much the actual “family” of Rothschild’s that’s the concern now… it’s the “idea” of them that persists today of a select few controlling the many that threatens us more). This makes them richer, while the rest of the world gets poorer.

Only the people in charge of the money in this “monetary society” have real control and power. They are accountable to no one, while destroying our nation’s wealth for the benefit of a few. This type of financial control in private hands constitutes a world system capable of dominating entire economies as seen in much of Africa and across Europe (especially with the aid of their invented unified currency, the Euro, more on this later). Through their private global entities such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, and International Bank of Settlements, their financial grip is overwhelmingly powerful. In America, this cartel's biggest lever of power is the Federal Reserve System.

COSTS OF PROPPING UP A FAILED MONOPOLISTIC CARBON AND NUCLEAR MODEL WHICH IS A DEAD END, CREATING MASSIVE OIL SPILLS, GAS BLOWOUTS, NUCLEAR DISASTERS, AND GLOBAL WARMING, IN A SUICIDAL RUSH TO ARMAGEDDON

What are the costs of focusing mostly on the 'cheap', and abundant fossil fuel products, instead of zero carbon, green renewable energies? The carbon industry and it's cabal of promoters try to claim that carbon fuels are green and clean, emitting only 'healthy CO2, which is 'food for plants'. But quite the opposite is actually the case for all carbon fuels, as itemized below. Carbon fuels are very dirty, toxic fuels all the way through the whole carbon fuel chain from mining, drilling, fracking, transport, refining, burning and then disposal of what remains.

SULFURIC ACID FROM FOSSIL FUEL PRODUCTS BEING BURNED OR USED ENDS UP IN OCEANS, AIR, SOIL, RIVERS, STREAMS, AND LAKES, CREATING DISEASE AND DEATH ZONES

Angela_R February 26, 2016 Of all the chemical compounds that existed prior to my introduction to nuclear chemistry, sulfuric acid was for me the most horrifying. “Much of the sulfuric acid in the air is formed from sulfur dioxide released when coal, oil, and gas are burned. The released sulfur dioxide slowly forms sulfur trioxide, which reacts with water in the air to form sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid dissolves in the water in air and can remain suspended for varying periods of time; it is removed from the air as rain. “ (1.2 – in link below)

BURNING CARBON FUELS PRODUCES ACID AIR PARTICLES, ACID RAIN, WHICH DESTROYS PLANTS, GROUND, ACIDIFIES OCEAN AND FRESH WATER, KILLING FISH, CORAL AND PEOPLE'S LUNGS

All carbon fuels burn and create ACID end products that pollute water, air, and ground with ACID byproducts, such as the sulfur dioxide pointed to above.

Have you heard of ACID RAIN?

Wikipedia; "The corrosive effect of polluted, acidic city air on limestone and marble was noted in the 17th century by John Evelyn, who remarked upon the poor condition of the Arundel marbles.[2] Since the Industrial Revolution and carbon fuel burning, emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere have increased.[3][4] In 1852, Robert Angus Smith was the first to show the relationship between acid rain and atmospheric pollution in Manchester, England.[5]

Though acidic rain was discovered in 1853, it was not until the late 1960s that scientists began widely observing and studying the phenomenon.[6] The term "acid rain" was coined in 1872 by Robert Angus Smith.[7] Canadian Harold Harvey was among the first to research a "dead" lake. Public awareness of acid rain in the U.S increased in the 1970s after The New York Times published reports from the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest in New Hampshire of the myriad deleterious environmental effects shown to result from burning carbon fuels.[8][9]

Occasional pH readings in rain and fog water of well below 2.4 have been reported in industrialized areas.[3] Industrial acid rain is a substantial problem in China and Russia[10][11]and areas downwind from them. These areas all burn sulfur-containing coal to generate heat and electricity.[12]

The problem of acid rain has not only increased with population and industrial growth, but has become more widespread. The use of tall smokestacks to reduce local pollution has contributed to the spread of acid rain by releasing gases into regional atmospheric circulation.[13][14]

Often deposition occurs a considerable distance downwind of the emissions, with mountainous regions tending to receive the greatest deposition (simply because of their higher rainfall). An example of this effect is the low pH of rain which falls in Scandinavia.

History of acid rain in the United States

Since 1998, Harvard University wraps some of the bronze and marble statues on its campus, such as this "Chinese stele", with waterproof covers every winter, in order to protect them from erosion caused by acid rain and acid snow[15]

In 1980, the U.S. Congress passed an Acid Deposition Act.[16] This Act established an 18-year assessment and research program under the direction of the National Acidic Precipitation Assessment Program (NAPAP). NAPAP looked at the entire problem from a scientific perspective. It enlarged a network of monitoring sites to determine how acidic the precipitation actually was, and to determine long-term trends, and established a network for dry deposition.

It looked at the effects of acid rain and funded research on the effects of acid precipitation on freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems, historical buildings, monuments, and building materials. It also funded extensive studies on atmospheric processes and potential control programs.

In 1991, DENR provided its first assessment of acid rain in the United States. It reported that 5% of New England Lakes were acidic, with sulfates being the most common problem. They noted that 2% of the lakes could no longer support Brook Trout, and 6% of the lakes were unsuitable for the survival of many species of minnow. Subsequent Reports to Congress have documented chemical changes in soil and freshwater ecosystems, nitrogen saturation, decreases in amounts of nutrients in soil, episodic acidification, regional haze, and damage to historical monuments.

Meanwhile, in 1989, the U.S. Congress passed a series of amendments to the Clean Air Act. Title IV of these amendments established the Acid Rain Program, a cap and trade system designed to control emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Title IV called for a total reduction of about 10 million tons of SO2 emissions from power plants. It was implemented in two phases. Phase I began in 1995, and limited sulfur dioxide emissions from 110 of the largest power plants to a combined total of 8.7 million tons of sulfur dioxide. One power plant in New England (Merrimack) was in Phase I. Four other plants (Newington, Mount Tom, Brayton Point, and Salem Harbor) were added under other provisions of the program. Phase II began in 2000, and affects most of the power plants in the country.

During the 1990s, research continued. On March 10, 2005, EPA issued the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR). This rule provides states with a solution to the problem of power plant pollution that drifts from one state to another. CAIR will permanently cap emissions of SO2 and NOx in the eastern United States. When fully implemented, CAIR will reduce SO2 emissions in 28 eastern states and the District of Columbia by over 70% and NOx emissions by over 60% from 2003 levels.[18]

Overall, the program's cap and trade program has been successful in achieving its goals. Since the 1990s, SO2 emissions have dropped 40%, and according to the Pacific Research Institute, acid rain levels have dropped 65% since 1976.[19][20] Conventional regulation was used in the European Union, which saw a decrease of over 70% in SO2 emissions during the same time period.[21]

In 2007, total SO2 emissions were 8.9 million tons, achieving the program's long-term goal ahead of the 2010 statutory deadline.[22]

In 2007 the EPA estimated that by 2010, the overall costs of complying with the program for businesses and consumers would be $1 billion to $2 billion a year, only one fourth of what was originally predicted.[19] Forbes says: In 2010, by which time the cap and trade system had been augmented by the George W. Bush administration’s Clean Air Interstate Rule, SO2 emissions had fallen to 5.1 million tons. [23]

Emissions of chemicals leading to acidification

The most important gas which leads to acidification is sulfur dioxide resulting from burning carbon fuels. Emissions of nitrogen oxides which are oxidized to form nitric acid are of increasing importance due to stricter controls on emissions of sulfur containing compounds. 70 Tg(S) per year in the form of SO2 comes from fossil fuel combustion and industry, 2.8 Tg(S) from wildfires and 7–8 Tg(S) per year from volcanoes.[24]

HYDROCARBON POISONING

Hydrocarbon poisoning such as that of benzene and petroleum usually occurs accidentally by inhalation or ingestion of these cytotoxic chemical compounds. Intravenous or subcutaneous injection of petroleum compounds with intent of suicide or abuse is an extraordinary event that can result in local damage or systemic toxicity such as tissue necrosis, abscess formation, respiratory system failure and partial damage to the kidneys, the brain and the nervous system. Moaddab and Eskandarlou report a case of chest wall necrosis and empyema resulting from attempting suicide by injection of petroleum into the pleural cavity.[15]

What are the consequences when we run over the edge of the global fossil fuel peak oil cliff, where supply no longer meets demand? If we are not there yet, we will be soon. Peak oil is not just a meaningless concept. It is a very real event, and it's impact will be felt and experienced by everyone on the planet.

This article explores these questions and hopefully shed some light on what the future holds in store for us around fossil fuels. What is not commonly known is that even those in the fossil fuel business know that we are running out, and that the 'peak of oil' is either close or has already been reached.

CONSEQUENCES OF C02 INCREASE GLOBALLY

The world keeps increasing carbon fuel use, the end result will be a dead end and Armageddon on an environmental scale, because Nature and living systems cannot handle the consequences that result from an ever escalating CO2 rise.

Globally, the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere is going up drastically, which then increases the acid content of the oceans.

The graphs above show just a few of the negative effects on our environment, on plants and on animal species due to our addictive focus on fossil fuels for all of our energy needs.

IS THERE AN END TO CONSTANTLY INCREASING SUPPLY AND USE OF OIL?

The following video and pictures are thanks to Fred Duennebier, Emeritus Professor of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Hawaii presents his warning about the end of cheap energy. His point is that soon we will see that even at $100 per barrel, oil energy is cheap.

No one has to pay for the negative externalities that burning carbon fuel or nuclear fuel produces. But those negative impacts will be felt and come back around eventually, even if those companies try to shift them onto the public and make them take on all of the risks and costs of pollution, nuclear waste disposal, nuclear plant accidents, health consequences, etc.

The end of cheap oil everything

EASY PEAK OIL DISCOVERIES TAPPED OUT, NOW DOWN TO SHALE OIL AND OIL SANDS, WHICH REQUIRES FRACKING, AND CREATES ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE MORE TOXIC POLLUTION IN ALL DIRECTIONS

The chart above shows the number of giga barrels of oil discovered and future discoveries coming online inside the US. The US has been using much more oil than was being discovered until the age of fracking, tar sands and shale oil. The red chart shows oil production in the USA. Since 2010, the production has gone up due to fracking, and forcing out the last dregs of oil, but it costs more than 100 per barrel to get that oil.

The external costs to the environment keep going up, as the sources of oil get dirtier and dirtier, with less and less net payback.

PEAK OIL NEVER HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH RUNNING OUT OF OIL ENTIRELY, BUT MORE ABOUT EASY OIL FIELD DEPLETION AND DECLINES, AND THAT FACT HAS NEVER BEEN DISPUTED

During the decade from roughly 2004 to 2014, conventional oil production languished, oil prices skyrocketed, and peak oil was once again a widespread topic of public discussion. Yet since mid-2014 petroleum prices have plummeted and oil depletion has again mostly disappeared from policy discourse. Pundits proclaim that “Peak oil is dead!” and insist that “No, we’re not running out of oil!”—even though peak-oil warnings never had to do with “running out,” but rather the inevitability of depletion and decline. A short-term focus on prices has thus repeatedly undercut our ability to plan for the long haul.

FRACKING IS UNSUSTAINABLE FOR OH SO MANY REASONS

Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert Discuss Sinkholes of Stupid, Empires Of Radioactive Fracking Idiocracy Plus Peak Oil; via @AGreenRoad
http://agreenroad.blogspot.com/2013/10/max-keiser-and-stacy-herbert-discuss.html

The global demand and elasticity of oil supply used to be there. There always used to be more supply than demand, so supply could increase if demand increased. Now however, supply has tightened up, and demand keeps growing, but there is no more elasticity in supply, because demand and supply are roughly equal, so it is much harder to increase supply to meet increased demand.

What will be the result if some disaster or war takes out some of the global oil supply and a major oil reduction in the supply chain happens, and there is no surplus in the supply side?

One prediction is that swings in prices of oil products due to this inelasticity will dramatically increase in the future. Prices will keep going up, possibly at a faster and faster rate than ever before, especially once we reach the downside of peak oil. Prices always rise as demand exceeds supply.

WHY DID OIL PRICES DROP IN 2015?

There was a reduction in demand for carbon fuel as of 2015 because of a worldwide recession, and this was started in part by the Chinese. Now add a milder than normal winter due to global warming, plus a reduction in demand due to millions of electric cars, home and business owners making energy saving improvements to their buildings. Combining all of this plus the huge increase of oil production from fracking resulted in excess oil supply, which then translated into a drop in prices. No one wants to cut production, so the supply of oil keeps going up.

But make no mistake, the bottom of the oil barrel is being scraped. No one would be fracking if this were not the end of oil, because all of the 'easy' oil is gone. Peak oil has been reached and exceeded, so this carbon fuel coming on line now is the hard stuff, the dirty stuff, and the toxic oil sands. It is like filtering the dregs of tea leaves through your teeth to get the last couple drops of tea in a tea glass.

HUGE PRICE SWINGS IN OIL PRODUCTS POSSIBLE IN FUTURE, MAKING IT LESS AND LESS RELIABLE AND STABLE

But the opposite is also true. As people and businesses conserve and move away from oil, demand drops which leads to swings in the price of oil, from very high to very low, as the derivatives market pushes the price up artificially and keeps it up, or when the balloon deflates, the price collapses, causing huge financial rifts in the global economy.

Who gets left out as prices rise to unaffordable levels and then crash to unprofitable levels, back and forth, over and over again? At what point do we make a choice to get off of our oil addiction, and hit bottom? What will hitting bottom look like?

WHAT DOES BURNING 1 CUBIC MILE OF OIL LOOK LIKE, AS FAR AS ALTERNATIVES?

The world currently uses about 1 cubic mile of carbon fuel products per year, as illustrated above. To replace this amount of oil, assuming we have reached the oil peak and are now into a decreasing supply of oil period, while still increasing demand in the next 2 to 50 years, will take building all of the items in the red circles, EVERY YEAR, for the next 50 YEARS.

Each one of the red circles will only meet 1/5 of the total demand that oil supplies the world currently for one year. If dams, coal plants and nuclear cannot be built at the above pace, each year, then we have to multiply the other energy sources by an equivalent number and build that number EACH YEAR.

Just in terms of replacing the missing fossil fuel after peak oil is reached, the challenge is HUGE. The peak of oil production is coming up fast, if we have not already gone over the top. We better have a plan and be putting it in place, otherwise the suffering will be huge.

EASY OIL IS GONE, NOW SHALE AND TAR SANDS OIL EXTRACTION IS HARD, TOXIC, AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE MONEY WITH

It is accepted fact and common sense knowledge that all of the 'easy oil' is gone. Humanity is now using up the last dregs of oil in the bottom of a huge global oil container called Earth. As part of humanity's fossil fuel addiction, we are now sucking, heating and squeezing dirty oil sands, much like someone squeezing a dirty wet sock in order to get at the water in it, to drink it. The easy river of oil has gone dry and is gone.

We are also heating and breaking shale rocks to extract oil; and that is a pretty desperate thing to do for an oil addict. Imagine breaking rocks to extract water, because the river has run dry. Our present situation is the equivalent of a meth addict swabbing old aluminum foil and used plastic baggies in the garbage can, that may contain some meth residue.

EVERY OIL AND GAS COMPANY IS FLARING WELLS, BURNING HUGE AMOUNTS OF METHANE OR NATURAL GAS, CAUSING GLOBAL WARMING, WHILE RELEASING MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF TOXIC GASES

Angela_R January 5, 2016 “MORE gas is flared in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world. 2.5 billion cubit feet is wasted annually which is equivalent to 40% of all of Africa’s natural gas consumption. The general loss to Nigeria is about $2.5 billion yearly……..“

“…Gas flaring poisons communities: because it contains a cocktail of toxic substances, known as “particulate matter”, that is, benzene, toluene, xylene, and hydrogen sulfide. The Canadian Public Health Association has listed over 250 different toxins from flared gas. Breathing these causes associated asthma, respiratory symptoms, decreased lung function etc, non-lymphocytic leukemia and other blood related disorders in humans……”

Look at the other poisons and they talked about carbon dioxide!f

Burning carbon fuels is much like a kid huffing glue fumes from a plastic baggie. We are getting a 'high', but humanity, animals, plants and environment are paying a terrible price for it.

CONSEQUENCES OF GETTING OIL FROM DEEP OCEAN OIL WELLS WILL BE MORE AND MORE EXPENSIVE, AND DANGEROUS

Fracking is creating more and more polluted drinking water, air pollution and ground pollution via toxic, radioactive waste products.

Oil drillers are going down much deeper than ever before to pull oil out of very dangerous, dirty, hazardous, and mega accident prone places, such as the deep oceans. Yes, there is some oil there, but as the BP oil spill disaster proved, the consequences of just one accident may spell disaster for all ocean life.

Fracking extended the life of our fossil fuel addiction, but at a huge price that must also be paid. Fracking has the negative side effect and consequence of contaminating the environment with hazardous and toxic chemicals. Fracking is contaminating drinking water supplies, groundwater and causing earthquakes, which can cause the failure and meltdown of nuclear plants for example.

Shocking Study Shows Fracking Is Depleting US Drinking Water Sources at a Catastrophic Rate – Karma Yoga Daily
According to a recent study conducted at Duke University revealed that hydraulic fracking is having a catastrophic impact on water supplies throughout the US. The findings of the study suggest that fracking is using far much more water than before, and putting a huge dent in the amount of drinkable water available in water supplies.

Hydraulic fracturing is a natural gas extraction method that has become extremely controversial for its environmental impacts. Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside. Water, sand, and chemicals are injected into the rock at high pressure, which allows the gas to flow out to the head of the well. Wastewater produced from this process is highly toxic and filled with a variety of chemicals.

In many cases, people who live near fracking sites have been able to set fire to the water and air that comes through their pipes. It has also been found to contaminate drinking water. Unfortunately, fracking is still somewhat popular publicly because people know very little about it and it is also popular politically because all of the politicians have a hand in it.

HUMANITY IS USING UP CARBON FUELS AT A RATE OF 5 MILLION YEARS WORTH EACH YEAR

We are using up oil at a rate of 1 million years per 1 year of global fossil fuel use.

What took Nature 5 million years to create, we burn up in 5 years.

This use rate is the worst possible definition of unsustainability.

Whatever is not sustainable is TERMINAL.

Who in their right mind would try to hand off something that is self destructing to their kids and grandkids, much less 7 future generations?

EVEN IF ANOTHER 20 YEARS OF CHEAP UNLIMITED OIL EXIST, THE EARTH LIFE SYSTEMS CANNOT TAKE IT, THEY WILL COLLAPSE

Even if by some miracle we could find and extract fossil fuels for another 200 years, the Earth and it's systems could not take the CO2 emissions. CO2 is an acid, and we are bathing out planet and all living things in it. How much longer can we breathe acid, drink acid and bathe in increasingly acid oceans, rivers and streams?

GLOBAL WARMING EXISTS, DENIALISTS FUNDED BY CARBON AND NUCLEAR CORPORATIONS

TO REPLACE OIL WOULD TAKE TEN THOUSAND NUCLEAR PLANTS, WHICH IS NOT POSSIBLE, FOR MANY REASONS

Source/credit; https://jeremyleggett.net/2018/08/22/why-the-uk-nuclear-renaissance-plan-is-doomed-to-failure-in-30-pictures-and-charts/

Some people say; start using nuclear power to replace all fossil fuels currently being burned. Regarding nuclear power; in order to replace the 10 TeraWatts that the world currently uses via fossil fuels, it would require building 10,000 new nuclear power plants. We only have 400 existing now, and they are having huge problems.

Multiple Nuclear Reactors Bombed; All Nuclear Reactors ARE Bombs; @AGreenRoad

12 reasons why all nuclear power plants must be shut down; via @AGreenRoad

The known reserves of uranium on the planet would be used up in 10 - 20 years, even if we could accomplish that goal politically and financially. It takes an average of ten years to build a nuclear plant, and it also takes huge financial taxpayer subsidies that are not realistic these days, especially for 10,000 of them.

FORECAST OF 100 MAJOR NUCLEAR ACCIDENTS EACH YEAR, IF 10,000 NUCLEAR PLANTS ARE BUILT SOMEHOW

Figuring in the historical 1% accident rate per year in the industry, that also means 100 major nuclear accidents on the scale of Chernobyl or Fukushima happening each year, rather than one every 10 years or so that we experience now.

There are now around 400 nuclear power plants around the world. Imagine 10,000 of them instead of 400.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CARRINGTON EVENT HITS, AND 10,000 NUCLEAR PLANTS PLUS 10,000 SPENT FUEL POOLS ALL MELT DOWN, BLOW UP?

Now get ready for a Carrington Event, where all power is knocked out for a year, due to a periodic, natural huge solar storm that comes around every 200 to 400 years. All 10,000 nuclear power plants and spent fuel pools would melt down and/or blow up, resulting in the extinction of humanity.

MANY MONOPOLISTIC PRESSURES ARE FORCING THE WORLD INTO A DEAD END ARMAGEDDON SCENARIO, WHO WILL STAND UP AND RESIST THIS RUSH TO GLOBAL SUICIDE VIA CARBON AND NUCLEAR FUELS?

Bottom line, there are HUGE energy challenges coming up very fast. The perfect storm of population growth, peak oil, environmental destruction and pollution are all combining to squeeze humanity on all sides.

What are some sustainable solutions that we can use to make it through? If we wait to talk about this, it may be too late. We had better start talking and planning on how to create a fossil fuel free, green and sustainable future; one that can live through a Carrington Event.

Research Shows That A Low-Carbon Future Will Be A Renewable Future | CleanTechnica
There are multiple academic approaches to the inevitable transformation to a 100% renewable future. They overlap and provide strong support for thesis that electrical generation, and by extension all primary energy needs, will be met by a combination of renewables. The four this article will cover briefly are the work of Dr. Jacobson of Stanford, the IPCC perspective, Dr. Mark Diesendorf’s work from Australia, and finally a gloss on the current state of large-scale grid integration and transmission.

The most obvious example of a strong academic approach to a 100% renewable solution is Dr. Mark Jacobson and team’s work from Stanford. In 2017, they took their model for renewable generation for all 50 US states, and extended it to the majority of the countries in the world. Jacobson et al show clearly that transitioning to 100% renewables is viable by 2050.

What Ancient Maya Forests Can Tell Us About Our Future – Repeating Islands
Tropical rainforests are like carbon dioxide sponges, their plants sucking down tremendous amounts of the greenhouse gas for photosynthesis. When those plants die, that carbon makes it way into the soil, where some of it gets stuck to minerals and locked away for hundreds to thousands of years. Scientists estimate there are nearly 500 billion tons of carbon stored in tropical soils, or more than half of what’s currently in our atmosphere.

The new study attempts to shed light on what human activity means for that carbon over the long term. To do so the authors turned to radiocarbon dating, a widely-used technique for determining the precise age of centuries to millennia-old organic remains. Specifically, they looked at the age of hard-to-decompose plant waxes in sediment cores taken from three lakes in the former Maya lowlands. The idea is that the waxes make their way into lakes only after becoming buried in nearby forest soils, and that their age offers an indicator of how long carbon sticks around in the ground.

The findings were dramatic. The study found a 70-90 percent decrease in the age of plant waxes leaking out of soils over the past 3,500 years, a decline that closely matched patterns of deforestation resulting from Mayan expansion. While there’s some indication that soil carbon began sticking around longer after Spanish conquest depopulated the region 500 years ago, the carbon sink never recovered to where it was before human settlement.

Whatever is not sustainable is TERMINAL.

The Mayans lived close to Nature, but also fought a war against Nature. They ultimately LOST the war on Nature.

How long will it take for humanity to learn that this war is unwinnable and start working WITH Nature, rather than fight a war against her?

Ask the question; what works for 7 future generations without causing harm?
