Scientists are estimating that 50 gigatons of methane are being released from these methane ice deposits now, which all by itself would double the currently CO2 levels from 200 to 400 ppm equivalent.

Since the year 2000 we have had 16 of the 17 warmest years ever recorded, with 2016 being the warmest yet. As march almost ends it becomes clear that the ice caps are not the same as they once used to be. They are shrinking dramatically fast and are not following a linear equation anymore, but rather an exponential one. 

It is predicted that on the current course we could have an ice free arctic by as soon as the summer of 2017, and 2020 at the LATEST. This is a very bad situation, as the polar caps act as the earth's air conditioners and help to keep the planet cool.

Pence begins by discussing Charles Darwin talking about how he “offered a theory of the origin of species which we’ve come to know as evolution. Charles Darwin never thought of evolution as anything other than a theory. Jim Hansen: Hell Will Break Loose - Ice Melt, Sea Level Rise and Superstorms Climate State

During the last great warming; the tropics were 1 degree warmer. Deep water formation shut down, the Atlantic cooled by several degrees, and super storms were common. Huge boulders found on land in the Caribean were the result of these super storms. Multi meter sea level rises are possible in one century. The rate of sea level rise can rise non linearly. All huge cities across the world that are close to the ocean will be flooded and unlivable. 

The ocean conveyer belt will shut down, due to fresh cold water lying on top of the ocean. Cold water from melting glacier accumulates in the blue areas and are called cold water lenses. These cold fresh water spots laying on top of warmer salt water increase the energy imbalance, divert as well as slow down the global ocean water heat conveyer belt system, and that extra energy goes into the ocean, which then increases the melt rate of sea ice and land based ice.



There are two huge cold water lenses growing both around the Antarctic, and another one growing around Greenland. Notice the two blue cold glacier melt water lenses above. What impact are these huge cold fresh melt water lenses having on climate change?

Permafrost Methane Time Bomb - NBC News

Because of global warming, permafrost -- the frozen ground that covers the top of the world -- has been thawing rapidly over the last three decades. But there is cause for concern beyond the far north, because the carbon released from thawing permafrost could raise global temperatures even higher.

The first chart shows normal temperatures of permafrost historically. As of 2007, permafrost temperatures had changed to the graph above. A huge amount of warming is happening and melting of permafrost is starting to happen in areas that have never experienced melting before.

The problem posed by permafrost melting is that this frozen ground contains huge amounts of frozen or trapped methane gas. As permafrost ground melts and warms, the methane is released, thus accelerating global warming.

AREAS IN RED SHOW FIRST AREAS AFFECTED BY PERMAFROST MELTING, BUT THIS WILL EXPAND GRADUALLY NORTHWARD TO COVER WHOLE STATE



The prediction is that by 2050, permafrost frozen ground will be actively melting in all the areas in red, with that area gradually moving north until practically the whole state will be affected by it in 2100.

The result of melting permafrost is that it will greatly increase the amount of CO2 and methane released into the atmosphere. 



This methane gas is being released all over the Arctic region, globally. The evidence of this happening are the pictures above. A scientist punctures a hole in the ice over a small pond or lake, and then lights the methane gas on fire that comes out of this hole. Every pound of methane released has 85-150 times the global warming effect that one pound of CO2 does.

No place on Earth is warming faster than the high Arctic, and Siberia is rapidly changing before our very eyes. Along with reports on Siberian locals having swimsuit skiing day, papers are headlining new crater formation from methane explosions.

The most interesting and scary part of this video story is that these holes and craters are reported to be created via massive methane gas EXPLOSIONS, with FIRE AND BLACK SMOKE created afterwards, according to witnesses. 9:00 min. in, scientists talk about how permafrost consists of 1700 GIGATONS of carbon, which will be released into the atmosphere, once the permafrost thaws out, and releases trapped frozen carbon dioxide and/or methane. 

20: Methane deposits trapped under the 20 million square kilometers of the Arctic ocean are close to being released, because the temperature of the ocean bottom permafrost has been warming up. The methane ice deposits have been trapped beneath the permafrost ocean bottom, but that protective cap is now melting and disappearing, allowing millions of years of trapped methane gas to be liberated and released to the atmosphere.

AS MORE ICE MELTS, GLOBAL WARMING EFFECT INCREASES DUE TO MORE SUNLIGHT BEING ABSORBED BY DARK LAND AND OCEAN, INSTEAD OF BOUNCING OFF WHITE ICE

The arctic region is covered by white ice, which reflects heat and sunlight back out into space. But as the arctic ice melts, and darker blue water is exposed, that same sunlight and heat is absorbed by the water. Once all of the ice melts, a clear blue water event will accelerate global warming even further.

But the lack ice and it's latent heat absorbing effect will make this global warming effect accelerate even faster than just the effect of clear blue water absorbing heat, rather than ice reflecting it away.

ARCTIC OCEAN REGION IS HEADED FOR A BLUE OCEAN ZERO ICE COVER EVENT; THEN WHAT HAPPENS? 


The melting in the Arctic is not happening in a linear fashion. The melting is happening in an accelerating fashion that is speeding up faster and faster as we proceed year by year as can be seen by the graph above.

This acceleration in warming and ice melting will result in a BLUE OCEAN EVENT, first in summer and then winter as well. What happens next?

After First Arctic Blue-Ocean Event; then WHAT?


Because ice has a HUGE latent heat absorbing effect, the loss of all ice in the Arctic will also mean an acceleration and speeding up of the heating process globally. The heat that would have been absorbed by the ice will go into the oceans, land and air instead, which will trigger more methane gas emissions, which will trigger more and faster global warming, thus accelerating the process even faster.


As the Arctic keeps on warming up, jet streams that used to be very stable and go in a circle around the Earth and separate the Arctic from the lower warmer latitudes will be much more unstable, fractured and quit separating these two areas. Warm moist air from the tropics will reach up into the northern latitudes that never experienced this before. 

Colder air from the northern latitudes will move southward further and stay longer, creating more massive snow, rain, high velocity wind and other types of extreme weather as the two fronts meet and collide. 

SUMMARY

Multiple global warming negative feedback tipping points have been triggered in the Arctic, including:
  1. Burning larger and larger areas of forest or tundra due to melting and then drying out of areas formerly covered with ice and snow
  2. C02 released from warming and decaying of formerly permafrost covered vegetation matter on land
  3. Methane released from warming melting permafrost, now exposing decaying vegetation on land
  4. Melting of glaciers and ice masses that serve as a cold sink reservoir which used to serve as moderating influence. Result will be hotter, drier weather and more extremes
  5. Melting permafrost both on land and under the Arctic oceans
  6. Ice disappearing from the Arctic oceans, thus increasing the amount of heat trapped by ocean and land
Bottom line, the Arctic region is sending many signals that should serve as the canary in the coal mine. Warning are being issued to humanity that things will get much, much worse, fairly quickly, if things are not done right now, in a massive way, to move away from global warming nuclear and carbon fuels.

NC: Anti-Americanism is a very interesting concept. It’s a concept that only exists in totalitarian states. For example, if someone in Italy, let’s say criticizing the Berlusconi government – they are not accused of being anti-Italian. In the old Soviet Union you could be condemned for being anti-Soviet, in the Brazilian military dictatorship you could be anti-Brazilian. But aside from the US, I don’t know any other non-totalitarian, non-authoritarian country where the concept even exists. That’s a very striking concept. If you’re critical of policy – you’re anti-American. Actually, this has a very interesting Biblical origin. The first use of this concept was by King Ahab, who was the King of the ultimate evil in the Bible.
