Also for the first time in recorded history, Alaska’s sea ice has melted completely away. That means there was no sea ice whatsoever within 150 miles of its shores, according to the National Weather Service, as the northernmost state cooked under record-breaking heat through the summer.

• Christopher Walter Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley is described as the “high priest of global warming skepticism.

• He's like the fake doctor in the 1940's advertisements who really, really wants you to trust him that cigarettes are safe, and that it’s okay to spray DDT on your kids.

• Monckton also says that "after the Berlin Wall fell, the communists needed another way to centralise power and have created climate change as their Trojan horse".

• In an American speech, he compared one of the Australian Government’s climate change policy advisors, Professor Ross Garnaut, to a fascist. He also displayed a huge Nazi swastika next to Professor Garnaut’s name.

• Lord Monckton claimed he had previously revealed a United Nations plot to install a world government.

• "So to the bogus scientists who have produced the bogus science that invented this bogus scare I say, we are coming after you. We are going to prosecute you, and we are going to lock you up."

After the news conference, and as diplomats gathered for the climate conference president's assessment of how close countries are to agreement, Monckton quietly slipped into the seat reserved for the delegation of Myanmar and clicked the button to speak.

"In the 16 years we have been coming to these conferences, there has been no global warming," Monckton said as confused murmurs filled the hall and then turned into a chorus of boos.

The stunt infuriated negotiators and activists here who gather every year to address what they believe is one of the world's top threats, the steady rise of man-made global warming.

As Monckton was escorted from the hall and security officers stripped him of his U.N. credentials, several people noted that just a few hours earlier a group of young activists had been thrown out of the convention center and deported. Their crime: unfurling an unauthorized banner calling for the Qatari hosts to lead the negotiations to a strong conclusion.

By late today, several activists attending the conference had posted calls to "deport Monckton" on their Twitter feeds."

NASA warns of huge, unexpected methane boost from ‘abrupt thawing’ of Arctic permafrost – IBTimes India
The Arctic Permafrost, a layer of ice in the Northern Tundra that has been permanently frozen since the last ice age, has started to slowly melt due to climate change and global warming. This thawing could free large amounts of methane, which is a greenhouse gas.

Results of a new research paper, funded by NASA has found that the expected gradual thawing of Northern ice and the release of greenhouse gases could actually be fast-tracked by incidents of “abrupt thawing”, a relatively unknown process, said NASA.

Abrupt thawing, says the space agency, happens below the surface of a specific type of Arctic lake called a thermokarst lake. These lakes form as permafrost continues to thaw.

The Northern Tundra stores possibly the largest natural reservoir of organic carbon on Earth, trapped in the frozen soil. If this soil starts to defrost, microbes that live in the soil will start to work on the carbon and convert it into carbon dioxide and methane. These gases have a major part to play in the current climate scenario. While carbon dioxide is seen as the biggest culprit among greenhouse gases, methane is about 30 times more potent at trapping heat, notes an SD report.

ICE CORE SAMPLES GOING BACK 800,000 YEARS PROVIDE EVIDENCE THAT GLOBAL WARMING IS HAPPENING AND ACCELERATING

In other words, the trend of ice loss is ACCELERATING and gaining momentum, not the opposite.

DENIAL LEADS TO INABILITY TO DEAL WITH PROBLEMS, ISSUES AND REALITY 


Here we sit, unable to change and unable to deal with reality as it really is, all for the sake of an addiction to the use of carbon based fossil and nuclear fuels, while keeping up 'appearances' of normality. The large ship we call Earth is sinking fast, but we are re-arranging the sliding deck chairs so they look pretty on the increasingly leaning decks. Isn't the band playing a pretty tune, as the 'unsinkable' Titanic called Earth is dying?

We all want to be 'normal' so much that we will deny reality right up to the end. We cannot be in a crisis or global emergency, as that would not be 'normal'. We just cannot have any un-normal things happening in our lives. So let us just deny them all, and everything will work out just fine. There is just too much stress in our lives to deal with this crisis right now.

So we let it all go and wait to act or do anything about it for another year or two. Let's go shopping for a bigger Hummer style vehicle or truck, a bigger house, a bigger yacht, a bigger plane and a bigger plasma TV.

The message of the 1 percent, predatory capitalistic short term profit focused corporate world is "don't worry, be happy, buy more!". But that is exactly what will cause global climate change Armageddon, as the world denies what is going on and accelerates into a brick wall of global warming.

But in the world of reality as opposed to fantasy, delusion, denial and pretending, addictions do have consequences. There is a bottom that all addicts hit. All addictions run their negative consequences course. All addictions have their day of reckoning, no matter how deep the denial is. The guaranteed 'unsinkable' Titanic sunk, killing many who were not prepared, or who bought into the lie that it was 'unsinkable'.

The Titanic called Earth is sinking under the combined weight of burning 1 cubic mile of carbon fuels per year. Methane gas release is increasing by orders of magnitude each year, with catastrophic results. Humans are burning carbon fuels as a rate of 1 million years worth of carbon fuel creation, each year.

Carbon fuel addicted humanity has many days of reckoning ahead, as the use of carbon fuels and global warming accelerates faster and faster. And the band plays on, cheerfully, mind you. Do the deck chairs look ok now, captain? Let's all keep pretending everything is 'normal', ok?

Texas’s Big Oil asking for $12 billion in taxpayer money to protect them from climate change

With our changing climate comes more powerful storms, rising sea levels, and the subsequent flooding from storm surges. What were once freak incidents and “natural disasters” are now going to be a more common occurrence and the result is that the U.S. needs to spend big bucks in order to protect our infrastructure. During this time, the fossil fuel industry and the politicians they pay off continue to drill and extract and exacerbate the rising temperatures that lead to the emergency need for strengthening our infrastructure. There is also no shortage of evidence that oil companies like Exxon Mobil full well knew, for decades, their business’s part in accelerating climate change via CO2 emissions—and instead of spending money to create a more environmentally friendly way of creating energy and profits, they spent that money on quackery in order to sow the seeds of doubt about the very nature of climate change.

The higher tides now expected in places like Texas’s Gulf Coast means that something’s gotta give. A new 60-mile, infrastructure project has been proposed. It would buttress and reinforce Texas’s seawalls, and include “floating gates,” and “steel levees.” The AP reports that it would cost “at least $12 billion for the full coastal spine, with nearly all of it coming from public funds.”

First they deny global warming and climate change exists, by funding 200 organizations and spreading conspiracy theories. Then they demand corporate welfare and entitlements to counter that same climate change effect caused by the global warming that they caused.
